1976 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow
Original presentation and wonderful condition
This is a very fine Silver Shadow finished in 2-tone Walnut (metallic) over Masons black with interior matching tan fine-lines on the waistline and the hubcap trim rings. The interior is finished in light tan original Connolly hides with chocolate trim and tan Wilton wool carpets. The black Everflex roof works very well with the 2-tone paint scheme.
This is a very clean and original example that has been well cared for by its 2 previous mature owners of some 30 odd years. It is totally original with no modifications. It even has it original Blaupunkt blue-dot push button radio and factory Pioneer tape deck in its original position. A nice genuine touch.
Mechanically this Silver Shadow is strong. For the last 8 years it has been in storage as part of an estate. Under the care of the Park-Ward Motor museum, the car was brought back to the light of day and put through our workshop. Like all our Rolls-Royces, this example was fully work-shop serviced and inspected to include the all important hydraulics and braking system. These are overhauled where required; pumps, accumulators, reservoirs cleaned, lines & hoses replaced, calipers & pads inspected and system final pressure tested and bled. The level heights are correct. Transmission, engine ancillaries and exhaust are all inspected and the car road-tested for correct operation. The car drives very â€œtightâ€ without any of the typical â€œrattles & thumpsâ€ typical of this model. The car is now all up to date on its services and EVERYTHING operating as it should.
The body is straight and paint shiny and consistent. Like most Silver Shadows, it was repainted at some stage (probably 20 years ago) in its original colour combination and looks good. The car has almost none of the signature hair-lines at the base of the â€œAâ€ & â€œCâ€ pillars (Rolls-Royce used the â€œlead-wipingâ€ technique for joining body panels which would crack over time). Overall, the car is minor on other blemishes and marks so presents well - certainly way above average for a Rolls-Royce of this age. As a daily driver, the paint presents as a 9, if not 10, out-of-10. The Everflex top is a brand new replacement by us because there was a split at the sewn seam. The only way to fix correctly is a complete replacement.
The interior presents beautifully; very clean and fresh with the leather in an excellent state. It is the original factory leather and has NEVER been re-dyed so it sports the correct finish that only Vaumol hide displayed. A great welcome with true â€œoriginal Vaumol leatherâ€ is the colour characteristics. If you look at the pictures of the interior, there are some close up shots that clearly show the colour is not just plain tan, but with a â€œburnishedâ€ tone to the leather. You can see the light tan base and then in the fine natural grain and pores of the leather is a darker tone. This natural quasi â€œantiqueâ€ leather look (like a Chesterfield couch) was achieved by the hand rubbing Vaumol Connollising technique that made this leather so famous. Leather that has been re-dyed by typical methods loses this unique look and end up being â€œmono-tonedâ€ featuring only the 1 primary colour. As such, it lacks depth and richness that unrestored Connolly hide has to offer. Redyed leather also spoils the exposed stitching (see photos).
The entire wood inside was recently redone by us and is simply stunning and to factory standards; dash, centre dash area, door cappings and vanity mirrors. This work alone is some $4,000. The burr walnut is rich and dark and presents with a glass-like finish with zero blemishes, of course. It can truly be referred to as flawless.
The dash roll is in good condition as is the head-liner and rear parcel shelf.
All features, gauges, instruments and electrics work well. All interior lights and dash lights are all fully working. Heater and air-conditioning are fully functional. These are all thoroughly gone thru by Park-Ward. For example, we service all the windows to ensure smooth and swift up and down movement (windows often get very slow on Silver Shadows).
The trunk has the same Wilton wool carpet them as the main cabin. There are some imperfections in a section of the floor carpet which could warrant replacing and we will seek to do so if we can source a good matching unit. It is otherwise not overly objectionable, just not perfect.
The mileage, although not verifiable by documentation, is evident when you look closely at the various finishes. For example, the chrome and bright-work around the car is excellent. The brake pedal has minimal wear. This is a hard car to fault and drives very strong. As you would expect from a car of this mileage that has been well maintained, it comes with its original manual, tools and jack.
~~ This is a lovely example of the Silver Shadow marque which presents very well in its 2-tone Walnot over black with a black Eveflex roof. It is not a show car but an excellent 10-out-of-10 daily driver that is in all-round well above average condition. ~~

When our Rolls-Royces are commissioned for resale, they are indeed professionally and correctly â€œfully work-shoppedâ€. No corners are cut. And it is all addressed in true Crewe tradition. There is way too much to list here but to give you an example of our commitment to excellence of the various processes, this is one such example of what we do:
Doors and windows:-
Every car has its interior door panels removed. If the wood is in need of repair (as most are) it is refinished in-house by trained and talented craftsmen at Park-Ward Motors. This is a detailed process of stripping the wood of its old lacquer, repairing the veneer if there is damage, staining the top surface as per Rolls-Royce methodology and refinishing with no less than 25 coats of clear lacquer. Hand wet-sanded and polished between all of its last 15 coats. New window felt guides and wood-to-glass foam seals are fitted. All window mechanisms are checked and serviced for smooth and efficient up and down movement. This includes an electrical modification to rectify the typical â€œslow window syndromeâ€. All tracks, chains and gears are lubricated. Where central locking is fitted, these are all serviced to ensure no â€œsolenoid stickingâ€, another common problem. Units are repaired and or changed as required for refurbished units. Door wiring and door-to-body wiring is checked, repaired and/or replaced as required. The splash plastic on the inside of the doors to protect the leather panels from rain splash from inside the door is replaced with correct specification black plastic as used by the factory. Cut to shape and glued in position as per original. All door hardware is checked and repaired as required including locks, handles and scuttle finishes. The door is reassembled with all items cleaned and polished. The wood refitted and the leather panels are re-Connollised before final fitment.
Take this example and apply it to the many, many different aspects of Rolls-Royce restoration, service and maintenance and you have our dedication to correct and professional vehicle pre-delivery preparation and commissioning.

Although licensed and bonded, I am not a main-stream retail car dealer or broker; I am a professional car collector of some 40 years with considerable experience and knowledge of Rolls-Royce and Bentley Motor Cars. I have a long standing reputation being associated with the marque which I take seriously. I take pride in my cars and have fun in collecting and restoring them. However, auctions are not a game so when you place a bid or offer, and you are the winning bidder, please understand you have entered a binding contract. As a collector and experienced restorer of the marque, I make every effort to bring my cars to a high standard, both before and after the sale. By comparison, my cars are generally far superior to others available but they are by no means perfect. You must expect some issues. Unless specifically stated, the car is not of show standard but of nice "driver" condition. Please understand, show cars of this model cost hundreds of thousands of dollars to achieve and sell for prices commensurate, so the sale price of this car reflects its relative condition. You are buying "condition" accordingly. Buyers should not expect to receive concours quality or "perfect" cars at these prices. Please also understand, the very nature of these classic Rolls-Royces is such that it is not always possible to attend to every item, or perhaps I may have inadvertently overlooked items. Further, and very importantly, these cars are classic cars also because they are old. So this means if a car is 40 years old, then it is predominantly comprised of 40 year old parts. And old parts will fail. All buyers must understand and expect that things can or will wear out, break and/or stop functioning without notice, even if we have inspected it. This is even more likely with hand-built English cars of early technology when compared to the typical American car of the same vintage. Please note, fitted radio/stereo systems are usually subject to upgrade by purchasers so I do not ensure operation of these. Similarly, cruise control systems fitted to these classics were of an inferior design and I do not check or warrant the operation of these. Suspension and brakes on these cars are complex. We thoroughly check them and replace things that are identified faulty. But please understand, by example; if we refurbish or replace a brake caliper because it appears aged or faulty, we do NOT at the same time refurbish or place all other brake calipers because they are of similar age. This is considered "preventative maintenance". We do not do this unless specifically requested and is not included in the purchase price. Feel free to ask for this additional service. Further, a feature or function that is working perfectly one moment, may decide to play-up the next. After all, it is several decades old. This is the nature of any classic car and especially a Rolls-Royce which was very "complicated" for its era. For this reason it is necessary for the following condition:

At least, I have never done that. I have always professionally transported the cars in enclosed carriers from where I bought them to my home.

I am sorry if these terms seem harsh but there seem to be some very unrealistic buyers out there - fortunately, only few of these people exist but those that do can make life difficult, so it appears EVERYTHING needs to spelled out. Very simply put, this is an old car being offered for sale. It is not new and is subject to the perils of age. Further, Rolls-Royces are not without nuances, idiosyncrasies and they are renown for a host of design issues which can make them not inexpensive to maintain. This is well documented in many circles. You need to be a special and considerate type of purchaser to ownaRolls-Royce. Their down-side is part of the fun in owning them! As the old saying goes; "we love to hate them and hate to love them!" So, please respect the terms and conditions when you bid.
VALUES: Rolls-Royce values vary wildly, entirely dependent on their condition. There are, of course, other aspects that add or subtract from their values â€“ Long Wheel Base versus regular, the year which dictated certain technical changes, etc. The colour alone, for example can make a big difference.
