The Silver Shadow and its nearly identical twin, the Bentley T-Series, were launched at the Paris Motor Show in October 1965 and went through its only major revision in 1977.
Its delicate chromed bumpers were replaced with rubber-faced bumpers capable of meeting U.S. 5-MPH impact requirements, while rack-and-pinion steering succeeded the earlier recirculating-ball setup; passengers were even further coddled with a two-level air-conditioning system. The dashboard went through a complete redesign, with the bulk of the surrounding padding pared down. There were so many changes, more than 2,000 in all, that Rolls-Royce re-christened the car the Silver Shadow II
Under the bonnet, the presentation is amazing. It has not been precision detailed but simply kept clean and tidy throughout its life. The car sports a nice set of tires on original Rolls-Royce wheels complete with original center caps.
The body of the car is straight and the paint lustrous. It does have a few minor little chips and marks but there are few. Otherwise it is very shiny without any fading, dents or dings. Rubbers, moldings, badges and external fittings are all in excellent condition.
The interior on this car is quite lovely. The Connolly leather shows exquisitely and is entirely original. It presents beautifully without any signs of significant wear. The wood on the dash and doors are close to perfect. Carpets, seats, dash, headlining and fixtures are truly excellent and we would encourage you to look at all the photos to fully appreciate how nicely the interior presents.
This car was recently traded into our dealership and would be a great entry into the world of Rolls Royce ownership. She runs and drives great, has ice cold AC and newer tires. She is 100% factory original in specification in every respect with the exception of an aftermarket radio. |
