The legend of Porsche began in the late 1940s with the production of the 356, luxury sports car that established many of the defining characteristics of the marque. Just like Porsches today, hese rear-engine, ear-wheel-drive cars were lightweight and nimble, vailable in both open and closed configurations. Weighing in at around 800kg, he 356 was fun to drive, nd the stylish design has remained an enormous influence to this day. The cars were most popular in the United States, ll of which were sold through importer Max Hoffman's famous dealership on Park Avenue. Porsche built only 394 cabriolets in 1953, bout half of which survive to this day.

This particular chassis, 0175, as purchased from the previous owner in 2014, ho gave this car a no-expenses-spared, ff-body restoration during his quarter-century of ownership. This restoration included the installation of an upgraded, ore powerful 1600S Porsche 356 engine. Since that time, he car has remained largely preserved, ostly being used in shows as part of a larger collection.

The current overall condition of 60175 is excellent. The cream paint still shines very well, nd the top is in equally good condition, ith no leaks. The red leather seats are excellent, s is the red carpeting throughout. Fit and finish throughout, ncluding glass, ash, nd body panels, s spectacular. The engine runs very smoothly and the steering is appropriately quick for an early Porsche. Overall, his car is still suitable for any top-tier concours event.
