DP Motorsports of Germany has been creating special body parts and kits for Porsches for decades, nd is recognized as one of the top tuners and creators of lightweight road-going Porsches. Founder Ekkehard Zimmermann earned notice producing lightweight panels for the Kremer 911 2.8 RSR that made its debut at Daytona in 1973, nd the company has not looked back since. DP Motorsports is most famous for its 935 body conversions using fiberglass, evlar and then carbon fiber. The look has long since enjoyed iconic status in the Porsche community.
This 1986 Porsche 935 DP began life as a factory 930 Turbo model. It was immediately delivered to Kremer for transformation to 935 specifications and then sent to DP Performance for its Kevlar bodywork, hich included the favored slant-nose front end with lower oil cooler scoop, rake cooling scoops and retracting headlights; extended rocker sills and prominently flared fenders. Finished in Guards Red with a Black interior, t was imported to the United States as a lightweight street-legal race car packing a heady 600 horsepower, nd in 1993 it was featured on the cover of the DuPont Registry’s special Double Holiday Issue. In addition to spectacular new PPG Guards Red paint by Veloce Motorcar International in Pompano Beach, lorida, t also has received an extensive mechanical overhaul that includes new brake and fuel lines, uel tank, attery, rake rotors and pads, ires, une-up, park plugs and spark plug wires. It also sports a new OEM DP Motorsports windshield and decals. Genuine DP Motorsports Porsches rarely come onto the market, fact that makes this a very attractive proposition for the dedicated Porsche collector.
