The original paint in this Karmann-built coupe was scraped to bare metal and repainted in November 2018 with it's original color light ivory/6804 over a black interior and is powered by a fuel-injected numbers-matching 2.0L flat-six paired with a 5-speed manual transaxle.
The car was purchased in August 2017 by the seller, who then commissioned a mechanical and cosmetic restoration that was completed in late 2018. Work included a repaint, a reupholster of the interior, and an overhaul of the MFI pump, ignition system, and braking system.
This 911E is now offered with with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity and a clean California title in the seller’s name.
Gold lettering is affixed to the rear engine deck lid, and the remaining chrome parts were rechromed. Tail lights with red signal lenses are installed out back. The 15″ Fuchs wheels wear new Kumho tires and have been refinished. Just Tires in Culver City, California performed an alignment in February 2019. The braking system features a new master cylinder, discs, and pads.
The black interior was restored with new Hargarn carpets, a white perforated headliner, and vinyl seat covers. The seat chromes and other chrome parts were rechromed, and the doors received new panels, pockets and seals. The dashboard and gauges were refinished, and instrumentation includes quantitative imperial oil temperature and oil pressure gauges.
Approximately 95,600 miles are shown on the odometer, 400 of which were added by the seller in two years of ownership. The Grundig cassette head unit is in good working order.
Power comes from a numbers-matching 2.0L M901/09 flat-six mated to a 5-speed manual transaxle. Upgraded stainless steel heat exchangers are installed with new heater boxes. The mechanical fuel injection pump was rebuilt in November 2017 by MFI Werks in Bend, Oregon, and tuned in July 2018 by TRE Motorsports in Van Nuys, California.
A November 2018 overhaul of the ignition system included a new ignition coil, distributor cap, rotor, points, spark plugs, and wires. An oil change was also performed at that time. The suspention is great and the car runs strong.
The number stamped on the engine crank case reads *6290462*, and the number stamped on the transmission reads *7191882*. Both match the numbers on the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity. A photo in the gallery lists compression test results showing 160-180 psi across all six cylinders.
