Description:

1960 Porsche 356

This 1960 Porsche 356B Super Coupe is a T5 model that is finished in Condor Yellow over black leatherette and features an optional 80-liter fuel tank and original Speedster-style side molding. The car was purchased new by a US Navy serviceman at an AMAG dealership in Switzerland. It was then driven throughout Europe before coming to California. In 1961, this 356 was sold to H. Dana Bowers, a noted landscape architect for the California Division of Highways, and the car later passed to his son. It then moved to Missouri and Tennessee, and I acquired the car in 2017 and brought it back to California. The numbers-matching 1600cc flat-four is equipped with Weber carburetors and was recently serviced with new spark plugs and fluids. This 356 is now offered in Malibu, California with a Porsche CoA, manuals, the tool kit, a rear luggage rack, service records from new, and a clean South Dakota title in the seller's name.
TheReutter T5 body is finished in Condor Yellow (6010). A repaint is believed to have been conducted in the 1980s, but the seller states the door jams and dash are original. Optional Speedster-style side trim is fitted and listed in the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity shown below. Chassis number 111894 matches the chassis plate in the door jam and the body stamping in the trunk as shown in the gallery.
Seats are covered in black leatherette, and interior features include a VDO clock and a single driver's headrest. Checkered Coco mats cover grey carpets, and the trunk features the originally optioned 80-liter "GT" fuel tank.
A badge on the dash shows an award for third place in the 1962Spring Festival Concourse d'Elegance. The 5-digit odometer shows 5k miles and has rolled over once.
The 1600cc flat-four is mated to a 4-speed manual gearbox. This Super engine is fitted withWeber carburetors, but the original Zenith items are included in the sale. An oil pressure indicator can be seen in the engine bay and an Optima red-top battery is installed. Service in July 2018 included new spark plugs, oil filer, engine oil, transmission fluid and seal.
