Exterior:

This truly is a very attractive vehicle. Among other vehicles on the road, his 356 stands out and commands admiration. From 5-10 feet away, t presents like a freshly restored nearly flawless vehicle. It takes closer inspection, ore time, nd also a detailed eye to see areas of wear.

The red finish itself was very well done and was done professionally. The shade of the red matches throughout on all of the body panels as it all must have been refinished at the same time. Also, he quality of the finish, s in being very smooth and glossy also matches throughout. There are some typical and expected minor imperfections and wear that one would need to search for, hich are limited and do not distract from the presentation of the vehicle. For example, here are a couple very minor and light scratches on the top of the driver rear quarter panel that are pointed to in the pictures. Other minor chips and imperfections exist that keep this more at an extremely presentable driver quality, ut as stated, ear and imperfections overall are limited. The most significant spot on the finish to mention, hich is noticeable, s the scrape at the back of the driver rear wheel well and the area ear of the driver door above the rocker. The scrape has gone through the paint and primer. Touching this area up with matching red paint would go a long way in improving the cosmetics of that area. Lacking throughout on the finish are significant and disruptive amateur issues like gator skin cracking, ignificant runs/drips, range peel texture throughout, nd etc. I would have to imagine this current finish is of higher quality than what was originally applied in 1960. The current finish is not of spotless Concours quality but again, t truly is very presentable. Please view the photos of the Porsche book next to the body panels and the video footage of this vehicle. Clear and deep reflections are emitted from the paint. The glossy bright red finish definitely aids in the presentation and enjoyment of this 356.

The body of this 356B collectively is in the condition of making this 356B look absolutely beautiful from about 5-10 feet away. It shines nicely and looks complete in its original spec. While it does look very nice, he condition of the body is more of a driver type classification as opposed to a $100,000 recent restoration due to the details. Please understand, will be more critical than most. There are some areas and signs of repair, ore so underneath the car, hat those with a detailed eye and auto body experience will notice when close up to the car, ut the casual observer most likely will not. Some of this includes the front valence is not as straight as it could be, ome filler in some spots, nd other repair. There has been some floor work performed as well. Luckily though, he body work looks to be holding up well. The bottoms of the doors, heel well lips, nd etc. do not exhibit bubbling or other serious issues. Notice in the pictures those areas are clean. The body panels overall are smooth and look how they should. The doors, ngine lid, nd trunk lid all open and close well. The trim, right-work, nd chrome is present and shows some aging with some typical pitting and wear. The wheels are shiny but show some oxidation. One of the wheels is missing the “Porsche” crest. The windshield has some “sand blasting” to it that is not extreme and does not decrease driving enjoyment, ut is there. The rest of the glass is nice and if I remember correctly had the “Sekurit” stamp. The lenses overall are nice. The bumpers are straight.

It really is a matter of “the details” that are more so seen within 5 feet that will put this example more in the “attractive driver” classification. With having a very presentable finish, verall straight body panels, nd a complete exterior, his 356B really does look nice. It is plenty nice enough to drive to Porsche club events and other shows. How it looks in the photos and video is accurate to how it looks in person.

Interior:

The interior of this 356B is in nice condition. The tan against the red exterior and red dash is classic and contrasts nicely. The interior is mostly in its original spec. The nice condition aids the presentation and driving enjoyment of this vehicle. There again are some wear items that keep this from being a $100,000 car with a fresh restoration. The most significant item to address in the interior is the driver seat. The upper part of the frame for the back could use repair. Also, he seat cover has some ripping at the bottom left corner where it meets the seat back. The steering wheel has some minor cosmetic cracks in plastic in the centerpiece and scratches on around the rim. The carpet shows typical use and with some stains here and there. Those are some details to point out while the majority of the rest of the interior is nice. The red on the dash looks great. The classic radio is present. The original gauges are present with some minor oxidation around the rings. The passenger seat cover is great. The headliner is fine and not droopy. The dash pad is nice. The door panels are nice. The door jambs overall look good. The windows crank up and down easily and the door handles work fine.

It is nice to see an unmolested interior and there sure are not much to these interiors. Get in, rive, nd enjoy. The interior on this 356B is a good place to be and is an interior that overall is presentable.

Mechanical:

This 356B retains its proper 1600cc 60hp engine. The engine is believed to be original to the vehicle as there is no reason to believe it is not, nd it has the proper serial number for the vintage: 601776. The engine starts very easily, s shown in the video. The engine runs as it should and feels confident. The oil temperature stays low. The engine revs easily and feels like it has the power it should. The exhaust sounds nice. Please note for video purposes a microphone was mounted near the exhaust which is why it is so pronounced as it is not that loud in the actual vehicle. The engine retains its proper Solex 32 NDIX carburetors and even the air cleaners. The carburetors have recently been synched and the fuel system has been cleaned. The engine is tight and shows only expected, imited, nd minor seeping.

The transmission is believed to be original to the vehicle as there is no reason to believe it is not, nd it has the proper markings for being an early 1960 B: “716” cast early 741 transmission number 35150, nd has the improved front dual mounting. There is some minor seepage at the shifter input shaft seal. The transmission shifts very nicely to every gear and does not exhibit any issues. The clutch works fine as well.

The suspension overall is in good condition on this 356B. It rides down the road just fine and is comfortable. Sometimes there is a “clunk” that seems to be coming from the passenger front area, hich could be addressed. It is not affecting the drivability. The steering is good. The brakes have recently been serviced and also are good.

Other mechanical notes: The wipers work well, ll the gauges work and work well, he engine cover and trunk open fine, urn signals/headlights/brakes are also working.

The video footage shows very well how this vehicle drives. It is a turnkey vehicle. Get in, urn it on, nd just cruise. The current owner is a collector with multiple vehicles that has had this 356B for a few years and has always had it under the care of a professional classic car mechanic. The mechanic has completed the recent service items and kept this 356B in pleasant driving condition. Only regular maintenance should be needed for the foreseeable future.

Conclusion:

This is an excellent example for someone wanting a Porsche 356 that retains its original drivetrain, s in original spec throughout, s very presentable, nd is an example they want to actually drive. The photos and video give an accurate sense of how the car presents itself in person. It truly is an attractive machine.
