1976 Porsche 911

This is a 1976 Porsche 3.0 Carrera. This is one of 298 cars and is highly collectible. This started out as a original galvanized car. I bought the car in 1991 and completely built and went through the entire car With many top upgrades and retrofits. The car has a 1993 3.6 RS America engine with a shortened G50/50 transmission. The engine was installed before anyone performed this modification in the early 90s. The torsion bar torque tube was removed and replaced with a turbo unit to utilize turbo rear banana arms for proper offset and also helped to fit the G 50/50 in the car. This intricate job was performed by the Ruf dealer in New Jersey. A proper alignment along with the car being set up on scales was performed. Custom Torsion bars front and rear were installed To handle the set up of slightly heavier engine and transmission and to give a real performance feel for the car. New Bilstein shocks and struts were sent back to the factory to be custom valved with stampings on them. The front end was completely gone through with new turbo tie rods and bushings. To install the engine I had to graft two wiring harnesses, the 1976 to the 1993 utilizing the full stock fuel injection management. A custom heavy duty 935 clutch set up was utilized along with a lightened and machined fly wheel. The fuel tank was removed, retrofitted and alotted a space for the proper fuel pump. It was then powder coated red. New stainless fuel lines were installed. The car originally had no power brakes, a pedal cluster factory bracket system was installed to allow the car to have massive turbo brakes. Another aspect of the car are these giant 1991 turbo calipers. We started with machining custom one piece rotor hubs and hats to utilize a Ferrari F 40 rotor in the front. The rear brakes were turbo calipers that we machined and custom fitting for the early turbo banana arms. The rear bananas had new bearings and proper turbo spindles installed. Bulletproof Stock 3.6 axles were used. Ruf wheels were refinished at the time to give a proper period correct look. Interior was redone with new carpeting, RS America power seats, RS America door panels and I installed a weld/Bolt in roll-cage. The car had all steel Turbo wide body flares installed and the car was painted with all pieces off of the car in a Glasurit alpine white. Entire new rubber set was purchased and installed. The car is a hoot to drive. It has the reliability of a new stock car being that the engine was never touched other than valves adjusted and new valve cover gaskets were installed. The engine has never been apart. There are so many things and aspects that are engineered into this car to make it a real fun car to drive. I built the car from 1991 to 1997. The car looks amazing and drives great, it is always receives many compliments.
The bads, There is no rust on the car excluding Two tiny areas. Just below the left jacking point but not including the jacking point, there was a slight rusted area underneath that has been there since the 80's which I never addressed. Also at the bottom of the right door opening at that seam. The smallest rust bubble lift is apparent. Again overall the car looks amazing and I want to point out a few things that I noticed. There was a paint prep issues that you really have to look for in the right upper quarter. In the right door handle pocket the paint has lifted, on top of the original galvanizing. Expect slight chips, slight scratches and dings. The Targa top needs a recover but is totally waterproof. One of the structure pieces has a crack but still operates. The lower lip spoiler in the front is factory Porsche 930, the apron is not totally straight and the paint has some chips. The rear turbo tail, the rubber has started to separate. The radio does not work. I Do not have the original engine. In the 27 years of me owning this, I have really enjoyed this car, especially building it. The car has never spent a night outside And I've always tried to take care of it to the best to my knowledge. My father was a master machinist and we created things at the time that we're not done by anyone else. I would like to see this car go to someone that could appreciate all the truly custom one of a kind, built items. Please don't expect the car to drive like a brand new 911. This is a vintage 40-year-old car that people desire for its raw bones driving experience. These vintage 911's built as this was, like a modern Singer or custom retro mod 911's are going for hundreds of thousands of dollars.Buyer pays $1000 non-refundable deposit immediately at auction end.
