1970 Porsche 914

I have had this 1970 Porsche 914-6 conversionproject for about ten years. It has been through several owners and I have been the lucky one to get it nearly finished. I'd say its 95% done and must leave it to the next owner to finish and enjoy...health and family issues.

The body required new paint with minimal body work.Rust in the forward floorpan and under the battery box were repaired. The paint turned out well, except an area of the rear trunk. I think they missed the surface prep there. It shows ina photo and video. Body rubber was renewed with 914Rubber products. I had a set of late model doors - heavier and with better window winders - that I used instead of the 1970 doors that were installed when I got it. I added a stock front sway bar.

The engine is a professional rebuild 2.0L but I have no documentation. It arrived on a pallet. A (cold) compression test last fall after only a few miles to see that it ran showed,

#1-140 #4-155

#2-137 #5-155

#3-137 #6-147

I have run the car less than 100 miles up and down a county road withconstant acceleration and deceleration. It starts easily and runs well, doesn't smoke, has plenty of oil pressure and seems strong.

Zenith carbs with rain hats, headers with Magnaflow exhaust, welded motor mount, and side shift transmission. Trans history is unknown but it shifts well, doesn't grind, is quiet, and drained oil was clean with no evidence of damage.

Upgrades include New PMB brakes and 5 lug conversion, 14" Fuchs forged wheels with new Goodyear Viva 195-75/14 tires.

Electric windshield washer pump, new radio and speakers, firewall access panel, strutted hood, trunk and engine lids, engine start switch, and a custom temp, pressure, and fuel combination gauge.

Supplied parts include hood badge and gasket, new windshield chrome trim, horn button, parking brake lever and cover. (I have heat exchangers, heater control lever, cable, flapper boxes, and oneengine fan shroud thatI have collected, available separately.) Also a 150 mphspeedo with working odometer, engine lid grill(s, I have 2 grills if you want to make a GT type), and a roll bar bolster in pretty good condition.

You will need a transmission shift cover, windshield trim clips, seat belts, rear trunk lock release mechanism (pull cable or electric), carpet and a shifter boot. The main chore that needs to be completed is to wire the turn signals and horn as the wires were cut at the column. So there is a little left to do so that you can say you built it.
