1957 Porsche 356 Speedster Tribute
The history of the Porsche Company began long before Ferdinand Porsche thought of starting his own auto manufacturing business.
Over his career, he worked with Daimler, Mercedes, Daimler-Benz, Volkswagen, Auto Union, and others for nearly 50 years.
Like its cousin, the Volkswagen Beetle(which FerrySr. had designed), the 356 is a four-cylinder, air-cooled, rear-engine, rear-wheel drive car with unitizedpan and body construction.
Ferry Porsche described the thinking behind the development of the 356 in an interview with the editor ofPanorama, thePCAmagazine, in September 1972.
"I had always driven very speedy cars. I had an Alfa Romeo, also a BMW and others....By the end of the war I had a VolkswagenCabrioletwith a supercharged engine and that was the basic idea. I saw that if you had enough power in a small car it is nicer to drive than if you have a big car which is also overpowered. And it is more fun. On this basic idea we started the first Porsche prototype. To make the car lighter, to have an engine with more horsepower...that was the first two seater that we built inCarinthia".

The gorgeous Body was assembled using Hand-Laid Reinforced Fiberglass and the doors, deck lid and hood are pre-hung and
Custom Fit to each car.
It is Registered and Clean Titled simply as a "1972 VW" (using the authentic DMV approved VIN of the original donor car) and therefore is considered a Historical/Vintage vehicle which means it is Smog Exempt and can be insured as a Classic Car!
The title is NOT a "special construction" title, so there are no Export issues.
This Speedster is equipped with many Upgraded Options.
