1993 Porsche 911 RS America

This 1993 911 RS America is finished in the popular Guards Red color. The exterior is matched with red interior accents on the door-pull straps and seatbelts. The RS America has 17 inch wheels which was a first for 911 models in 1993. A 3.6 liter flat-six engine powers the RS America, producing 247 horsepower and 228lb-ft of torque. The car has a 0-60mph time of 5.4 seconds, and a top speed of 162mph. Standard features on the RS America are what set it apart from other 911's. These stock features include M030 sport suspension, progressive coil springs, a larger diameter front stabilizer bar, and upgraded shock absorbers. Perhaps the most noticeable feature is manual rack and pinion steering, rather than power steering. This gives the driver a better feel for the road, whether it's at the track or accelerating up a winding hill. Apart from standard features, four options were available for the RS America. This RS America is equipped with three out of the four options, including air conditioning, AM/FM radio with cassette player, and an electric sliding sunroof. The radio head unit is out of the car at the moment to make it look like a radio delete car. The head unit just needs to be plugged back in. With just under 38,000 miles this RS America is ready for its next owner. This is a beautiful car and the signature Porsche whale-tail turns heads anywhere you go. This RS America is an emerging collectible, and whether you want to drive it or collect it, it is an excellent car that truly resembles Porsche and their high performance RS division. This car has a clean Car Fax and is available upon request.

In 1993, Porsche debuted the Porsche 911 RS America. The RS America was inspired by the 1973 Carrera RS, which was a racing variant 911, that was never sold in the U.S. due to import restrictions. To circumvent these import restrictions for the new 1993 RS, Porsche designated a limited production number of RS's that met U.S. regulations. Electric windows and an alarm system were some of the additions made to the American version. Overall, the European RS was slightlylighter in weight and had around 10 more horsepower than the RS America.

The RS America was originally only supposed to be built for model year 1993. Due to popular demand, a 1994 model wasintroduced as well. Interestingly, the 1994 model differed from the 1993 model. In 1994, rear seats and seat belts were added, and an R replaced the P as the tenth letter in the VIN for the RS America models. A total of 701 RS Americas were built, with 617 in 1993, and 84 in 1994. These cars are highly desirable because of their rarity and the story behind them. Porsche did everything they could to produce an RS that delivered performance and met U.S. regulations. The result is the Porsche 911 RS America, a street car for those who love to drive.
