1973 Porsche 914 2.0 liter /914S

Up for auction is a Porsche 914 2.0 Liter or referred to as 914S by some early Porsche ads. www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/914 Darling FAQ/914 Darling FAQ.htm is a good resource for 914's. It refers to this year/model/motor as the combo most desired given all options were included slandered with improved power out of the engine also prior to the implementation of emissions requirements. This Porsche has had a repaint and is showing some aging. It has a couple of small chips and there is a small bubble in the paint at the passenger side door opener. Also there is a crack in the paint on the rear deck lid about 3" long. (hard to see) The under pan is very good but a aria under the front spare tire well has been replaced. (please look at pictures closely) The body is straight and shows well with its unripen marker and tail lights. The removable targa top is in great condition and fixtures securing the top in the trunk have been replaced. Glass is very good and has been replaced at some time. Side windows roll up and down as they should. The car has the appearance package with center console gauges, recently replaced upholstery, though sun visors and headliner are missing. A full seal kit has been installed along with vinyl sails.Of note, the odometer is not working, however all other gauges function properly. Maybe about 5000 more miles are on the car's odometerthat it shows. The engine has been converted to hydraulic lifters and the car has never been appropriately tuned since the conversion.Spark plugs, wires, air filter, distributor cap, rotor, points, fuel filter and valve cover seals have been replaced in the last 12 months. In the past 6 year upgrades are, brake master cylinder, rebuilt front brakes, replaced under car cooling ducting, installed a passenger foot-well subwoofer with amp in the front trunk, and installed new upgraded 100 lb. Veltmeister springswith Koni shocks on the rear. The car spent 2007-2013 covered in a covered parking garage with other collector cars in southern California. Car has been garaged since transported to Idaho, never driven in rain or taken out of garage when snow or road treatment possibly present. This car runs well when cold/cool but has some trouble when it heats up. It has been suggested by mechanic that the problem is a malfunctioning fuel injector.
