This rare 930 Turbo is #729 of 1,200 built has had the same owner for last 15 years. It was purchased here in 2001, after we received it on trade from a gentleman in Oregon. The car was delivered new in Texas. The DP style front bumper and 17" Porsche Cup Wheels were professionally installed during previous ownership. The car has had fastidious maintenance, always serviced at Porsche dealerships (If they had a technician familiar enough and skilled enough to understand the 930's) or independent specialty Porsche shops.
Having always been garage kept, and never driven in poor weather conditions. The vehicle is presented in its original Black (A1) paint, which shows exceptionally well. Other than some slight rock chipping as one would expect from the mileage driven, the exterior is virtually blemish free. The Black leather interior presents in great shape with no rips, tears, or bolster wear. Headliner is in fantastic condition, as are the carpets. When ordered new it was outfitted with to very desirable and rare options, limited slip differential and factory sport seats. Certificate of Authenticity (COA) is available.
Furthermore this 930 recently completed a rigorous pre-sale inspection with compression check at Hennessy Porsche. The compression is as follows: cylinder: 1=110, 1=110, 3=115, 4=110, 5=115, 6=110. The Technician noted that the vehicle checked out remarkably well and showed no signs of rust. They also verify that the engine and transmission numbers match the COA.
In 1973 the 930 was unveiled at the Frankfurt Auto Show as the Carrera Turbo. Employing the now iconic wide-body and curvaceous body lines of the Carrera RS 3.0 but with distinctive new front and rear spoiler design. The Carrera Turbo became an instant sensation. The car was released in the North American Market in 1976 as the 911 Turbo and featured a 3.0L Turbocharged engine. In 1978 Porsche upgraded the engine to a 3.3L Inter-cooled version producing 300HP and 304 lb-ft, endowing the Turbo to reach a top speed of 165 mph. The fastest US production automobile at the time. Also introduced on the 3.3L Turbos was a new rear wing to clear the inter-cooler and a 4-piston braking system from the 917 race car. The 3.3L Turbo was built for the US market for only the 1978 and 1979 model year before US emissions standards forced it from the market until its reintroduction in 1986. Significant air-cooled Porsche's have seen a tremendous appreciation in value in recent years, due in part to their analog driving experience and genuine blue chip collect-ability. Early Turbo models in original condition are virtually non-existent, and will continue to lead the marque in value into the next decade.
