1973 porsche 914 PantherHand formed steel body conversion with 944 turbo style front bumper that was custom fit to the front fenders. The rear bumper is a fiberglass 916 style bumper that was custom fit to the rear ffenders. The vents in the rear fenders accommodate Earls oil coolers and also help cool the rear brakes. The body is hand formed out of aluminum killed 18g steel. The fenders are flared 6" in the front and 8" in the rear. The street wheels and tires are 225/50/18 front and 295/30/18 rear on factory 18" porsche turbo twist wheels. The track wheels were custom made by Boyd Codington for this 914 Panther and are mounted with Hoosier slicks.The suspension and brakes: Front suspension and brakes are from a 911SC. With 23mm gun drilled torsion bars and a 22mm sway bar with adjustable drop links. The struts are bilstien auto dampening racing struts. The steering is crisp with 930 turbo tie rods and a bump steer kit by weltmiester.The rear suspension consists of boxed trailing arms and a chassis stiffening kit by weltmiester. The inner suspension pick up points are also strengthened by a set of custom made torque rods by AJRS racing services. The rear struts are also bilstien racing struts with adjustable ride hieght and 180lb rear springs. The rear brakes are 911s calipers and rotors.The transmission is a close ratio 915 gearbox with new syncros. The shifting is crisp with a weltmiester short shift kit aided by reverse lockout springs and new bronze shift bushings.The engine: 2.6ltr type 4 with a 911 style fan shroud with an 11 blade fan by Fat performance. A forged stroker crank with Pauter I beam rodsWith J&E 103mm pistons with total seal rings. The case work was done by Fat performance with machine work for the stroked crank and the 103mm pistons. The case was also modified for a fifth head stud. The cam is a Fat performance 502 lift with a 290 duration. The heads were also given the full attention By Fat performance with big valves 48x38 and then ported and polished. The push rods are chrome moly and operate the valves via 911 swivel foot adjusters. The valve covers are aluminum finned deep well covers that accommodate the high lift of the valve train. The case was also modified by Fat performance for the dry sump oiling system. The oiling system is a 10qt dry dump system that is double filtered and the dual Earls oil coolers are supplied by -10 steel braided lines.The flywheel is a stainless steel 215mm 914 flywheel lightened to 9lbs and houses a 911 high torque pressure plate and clutch disc. The rotating mass was also balanced by Fat performance. The intake is provided by port matched dellorto high rise manifolds and 48mm dellorto carburetors. The exhaust is vented through port matched European racing headers and a super trap. The ignition system is controlled by a electronic pick up in a Bosch 009 distributor and a MSD 6AL ignition system with a 6400 rpm cutout prom.The interior is clean with a center console with degree oil temp and oil pressure gauges. Also for driver safety it has a autopower full roll cage and 5 point body harness and fire extinguisher and a wink view mirror.The paint work is in good condition with a few little chips from normal street use. The paint is standox base clear system that was color sanded and buffed. The paint work is 15 years old but still looks and shines like new.
