Description:

1961 Porsche 356 B

This 1961 Porsche 356 Started life as a Reutter Cabriolet body which was then sent to Karmann where a factory hard top was brazed on; creating a Karmann “notchback” coupe. These early T5 Coupes were made using genuine Cabriolet bodies. This example was painstakingly converted back to a cabriolet using all genuine Porsche components.
Acquired as a stalled restoration project; the crew at Automotion Classics has completed the restoration efforts and is proud to offer this car turn-Key and ready to enjoy.
a rebuilt era-correct 1600 engine, fitted to a rebuilt & re-sealed transaxle with a new Sachs clutch assembly. The engine is based on case #733045, which was produced in 1965 very near the end of 356 production. Shifting is upgraded with later “C” shift linkage and components. The Braking system has also been upgraded to “C” Disc brake front & rear using all new & rebuilt components from master cylinder to rotors. No troublesome alloy drum brakes!
The suspension has been rebuilt using Koni shocks, new bushings etc. A local Porsche specialist rebuilt the front kingpins and gave her a thorough 4-wheel alignment. The result is a 356b that drives like new and handles superbly.
The interior and soft top are all new and in pristine condition. All chrome has been replaced or renewed. The black paint shines beautifully and is very presentable.
All gauges and electrical components work correctly and a new reproduction wiring harness was installed during the restoration. Tires are new Sprint Classic radials on restored stock wheels.
This is a great opportunity to own a real Porsche 356b that only differs from a true cabriolet by the chassis number. Keep in mind this is a true cabriolet body with all correct chassis stiffening braces and all the same details as a cab that left the factory this way: Unlike a later T6 notchback which did not use a cabriolet body to cut down on cost.
Restoration receipts have been retained and a copy of the Kardex is included with the car.
Put some miles on the odometer and smiles on your face in this piece of history.
