Description:

1973 Porsche 914 914-4

Listed is a 1973 Porsche 914 tangerine orange in color. This car has been repainted at some point in its life. The car has been hit before in the front I believe, so there is a salvage title. Because of that, this car would make an excellent project car/racecar candidate.
When I bought the car in late 2007, it ran rough, and needed to be gone through. I completely disassembled the entire car. I rewired most of it following available wiring diagrams online. I removed all brake calipers and had them completely rebuilt (honed and new seals). I installed a 19mm 911 master cylinder. I removed the original plastic fuel lines and replace the center tunnel fuel line with a custom bent stainless steel line. The headlight components have been acid dipped and gold zinc plated. The rear hubs have been converted to 5-lug, and 15x7 Fuchs have been installed in the rear. According to the person who I bought the Fuchs from, they had 16,000 original miles on them. The 1.7L engine has a progressive center-mounted carb. The engine tin has been removed to clean the cooling fins. The engine has an aircraft thermocouple temperature gauge installed on a spark plug. It also has a Pertronix Ignitor III electronic ignition system and appropriate spark plug wires and coil. The tires are a couple of years old but still have 98% of the tread left. I got the car legal and drove it some, but I didn't have time to really bring the car up to where I wanted it. Most everything works on the car, but it is by no means original in every way.
The passenger lower seat belt bolt has broken off in the frame rail. I bought a kit to weld on a new mount, but never installed it. Therefore, the passenger seat is not currently bolted in. The windshield has a crack in it. The seats should be reupholstered. The car does not have carpet. The interior overall is in need of attention cosmetically. The engine has slightly low compression, but the valve lash has been recently adjusted correctly. Rust on this car in most cases can be cleaned up with a wire wheel. The exceptions are some rust in the hell hole and a small portion on the floor pan. See photos.
