Description:

1973 Porsche 914

A "great barn find" and ready for a serious collector restoration. This is a 1973 Posche 914 2.0L, considered by enthusiasts to be the best yea, along with 1974 models, due to it's 2.0L engine, side-shift transaxle, moveable passenger seat, and lack of burdensome smog equipment and non crashpad bumpers of the later years. Super color combination of Zambezi Green (L64K) and brown interior. Sports a complete set of factory Mahle wheels, including the spare tire. Optional Appearance Group Equipment includes: A special grouping of the typical OEM appearance group items found on many 914s: Foglights, center console with clock, oil temperature and voltmeter gauges, leatherette steering wheel, leather shiftlever boot, and center seatpad as well as vinyl trim on the targa bar. Has factory sway bars front and rear. This is really a great find, from a long-term family ownership, coming out of California, so you know it is very rust free, one of the most important parts of a car worthy of restoration. Car sat for awhile before I got it, due to family problems with original owner. I adjusted valves, new spark plugs, filled tank with some fresh fuel, and it starts and runs. Was not making any bad noises, nor was it smoking.
As you can see from the pictures, this car is very rust free. There is some rust in the "hell hole" and the battery tray should be replaced, and the rear trunk pan has some rust. These are the 2 common area on these cars. That is about it as far as rust, everything else is just very light surface rust as seen in the pictures. I have tried to get pictures of all areas of any concern under the car, pans, suspension areas, wheel wells. Rear suspension under the hell hole is solid with no problems. Door gaps are great. Interior floorpan carpet is missing, but you can see the floorboards are excellent shape. I have not done anything to the car except get it running, and buff the paint some. The car is wearing the dirt, grim and a few leaves that it had when I obtained it. I haven't cleaned it up or even vacuumed anywhere. Tires are in very good shape. Problem areas I'm aware of are passenger outside door handle is broken, dash has some cracks, seats need some upholstery work, the rear trunk lid has paint crack and defect in center of panel, letter missing from engine grill, stock speaker grills replaced with aftermarket speakers, aftermarket radio, aftermarket exhaust. Passenger front fender has some crazing in paint, maybe from a previous repair? Front trunk lid has a broken hinge pivot bolt on passenger side and a couple scratches in the paint across the driver's side of the lid. Driver's turn lens and side mirror are cracked. Ignition switch needs replacing? since I have to use a remote starter switch on the starter solenoid (have not investigated this further). As far as I know, this car has had one re-spray in it's original color, many years ago. Body work is very very straight, look at the pictures.
Car has it's original 2.0L engine with factory Bosch MPC fuel injection, the best I can tell, minus the aftermarket exhaust. Again, I have not cleaned up or done anything to this engine other than get it running. Look at the pictures above and below.
Like the early 911 air- cooled cars, the 914's are seeing some dramatic increases in price, especially the '73-'74 914 2.0L cars, as well as the 914-6. This 914 is an excellent candidate for a correct restoration, and they are getting very hard to find in original condition and rust free. You will look a very long time to find one like this: rust-free, original, and has not been extensively modified or molested from factory original equipment. I have a clean signed off California title in hand. I'm familiar with these models, since I own another one in the same year and exact color combination, as well as being a past PCA member. Because this an un-restored 43 year old classic sportscar, I have to sell this as is, where is, no warranty expressed nor implied. I will be happy to assist with your shipping arrangements, domestic or international, the best I can, and answer any questions the best I can, seven seven five seven two one four four nine five, Mark. Winning bidder to secure with a non refundable $1000 deposit via PayPal within 24 hours, and the balance via wire transfer or overnight service with secure funds (certified bank check) within 3 days. Car will not be released with title until secure funds are cleared. Other vehicles and items in picture backgrounds are not included. If you need time to pick up vehicle, we can discuss this. Thanks for looking, good luck with your bidding on this true "barn find" gem.
