1960 Porsche 1960/2014 718 RS60 Spyder - inspired by 718 RS60 Spyder
The 1960 Porsche 718 RS60 spyders were the last but one, incarnation of a hugely successful series of Porsche RS (Renn Sport) racing cars dating back to 1950 and including the giant killing 550A. Approximately 15 RS 60s were built and very few come onto the open market and are well into the 7 figure price range.
I have a very long involvement in designing and building exotic one offs, and this car is the latest in a long line.
This vehicleis inspired by the original 718 RS60, but is slightly longer and wider. The vehicle uses 1997Mazda MX5/Miata suspension, steering and brakes etc with a Subaru 2.0l quad cam, sixteen valve turbo charged engine with a version 3 5 speed manualgearbox/transaxle. All the running gear is off the shelf components, so maintenance is inexpensive and easily achieved. This is a one off and is not a kit car or a replica. The body is hand made using polyurethane foam and glassfibre. The 718 features 3 piece 15 inch lightweight Speedline wheels and has a tonneax cover.
The 718 is painted in the iconic Gulf oil blue and orange colors and has been voted on two different occasions as the best looking "Porsche" at displays numbering over 400 Porsches
The car would make a great track day and or hill climb car as well as a great fun road car.
It is Right Hand Drive but would not take too much to convert to left hand drive if required.
The car is located in New Zealand. Assistance with shipping is offered Approx $3,500 for container shipping, to the west coast.
