Price: - Item location: Loma Linda, California, United States
Description:

1977 Porsche 911 Turbo Carrera

1977 Porsche 930 Turbo USA market sunroof coupe, 1k miles

Silver metallic on black full leather, ith sunroof, port seats, imited slip differential, nd "Turbo" stripes listed on Kardex. 21,000 miles,

This is a numbers matching 930 in very nice original condition. The only changes from original are a complete repaint in the original 936-9-3 silver metallic, nd the 3LDZ turbo was replaced with a K27, hich is easily changed back if you'd like.

I'm not a dealer, ut I am a lifetime Porsche enthusiast who buys, rives, nd resells one or two 911s and 930s per year. While the auction houses get top dollar, 'd rather sell directly to another enthusiasts, nd I've had good luck selling to Ferrarichat and Pelican members.
According to Hagerty’s guidelines, ’d say this is between a condition 2 and 3. I tend to understate the condition, nd my last three exotic cars sold to the very first buyer to see them in person. I’m asking $169k.

History

The odometer shows just under 21,000 miles. There are a few records from each owner with mileage documented that corroborate the low miles. Judging by the condition of the interior, arpet, edals, nd the underside of the car, s well as the tires which are from the 2004 with little wear, believe the mileage to be accurate.

  • Delivered new in Los Angeles according to the Kardex

  • Service book has the delivery dealer stamp from Bob Smith Porsche Audi of Hollywood.

  • Car was sold in California in 1988 with only 3206 miles, s documented by California DMV dealer paperwork, o the next owner who lived in Dallas, X

  • It was sold in 1995 to the next owner, ho also lived in Dallas. I have a Texas smog certificate from 1996 showing 18320 miles.

  • In 2003 it was repainted, hen sold to the next owner at the Kruse/Leake auction in Tulsa, K, howing 18577 miles.

  • He brought the car to Rennsport in Tulsa to convert it to a track car, ut they discovered the engine had three broken rings amongst other issues. Fortunately, hey advised him to purchase an available track ready Turbo instead. He intended to resell it, o Rennsport refreshed the engine and corrected other issues over the next few years. However, he owner had other priorities, o it mostly sat until I bought it a year ago.

I have a California title in my name, nd it has a current “non-op” registration. I obtained a 1-day operating permit (free at AAA) whenever I wanted to drive it. Car can also be registered as a non-op in California by a new owner without passing smog. 1977 930s are notoriously difficult to pass CA smog, nd I make no guarantee it will pass.

Documentation

While I have a recent PCNA Certificate of Authenticity, contact at Porsche Classic in Germany looked up the Kardex build sheet for me and replied with the following info:

VIN 930 780 0219

engine 6870225 is original

color Z2=silvermetallic

interior 68=leather black

Dealer UA=Los Angeles

invoice Nov.'76

Extras 220=limited slip diff

409=sportseats

650=sliding roof

393=side lettering black,hatched

  • Owners manual and service book withBob Smith Porsche Audi of Hollywood stamp.

  • Sparse records from past owners, ut enough to prove mileage

  • Documents of the engine refresh from Rennsport

  • All records for parts and service during my ownership

  • 1977 Porsche full line large brochure

Interior

  • Original full leather interior,

    • Leather is mostly supple although there are a few dry areas.

    • The leather shows little wear.

    • No rips or tears. Leather has pulled away along the headrest seam of the driver’s seat, an likely be repaired by an upholstery shop.

    • The interior condition confirms the low mileage of the car.

  • Original crack free dashboard

  • Original center vents in perfect condition

  • All original extra-thick pile carpet with "Turbo" script on the drivers side rear seat back.

    • Original, ike new condition.

    • The carpet condition confirms the low mileage of the car.

  • Original Blaupunkt Bamberg cassette deck with all accessories (does not work)

  • Original shift knob and leather steering wheel

  • Power windows work great

  • Original A/C system is still in place. Fan works but system is not charged with Freon.

  • Steering wheel leather is original. The leather has come apart some at the wheel spokes, ut it is in good shape for the age and mileage.

Body

So many of these early turbo "Widowmakers" were damaged severely and endured a rough life. I chose this one because there is no evidence of any accident damage, nd the underbody has the original undercoating still intact, ypical of a car that’s spent all of its life in a dry climate.

  • Car was repainted into its original silver metallic

    • Original paint was not stripped...paint gauge shows two coats.

    • Paint shows very sharp but it is a driver level paint job rather than concours.

    • All windows, rim, nd bumpers were removed

    • Most seals replaced with new

  • All windows are original green tinted Sigla in excellent condition

  • Wheels are the original date correct 16x7s and 16x8s.

Mechanical

Engine and limited slip transaxle are numbers matching original.

The car starts, uns, nd drives like you would expect a low mileage 3.0 930 should. Pulls well in all gears and boost comes on strong. Shifting is smooth and crisp with no hesitation or grinding in any gear. No smoking, ot even on startup!

Work performed since I’ve owned it:

  • Removed the gas tank for cleaning.

  • New Bosch fuel filter

  • Flushed Fuel lines

  • Renewed brake hydraulic system

    • New flexible brake lines

    • New brake fluid

Needs

  • Tires are from the 2004, nd though they have no wear and seem to be in remarkably good condition for their age, would replace them soon.

  • Sunroof motor makes noise but sunroof does not open.

  • It seems an owner was one of the very few who actually used the rear coat hooks set into the headliner, o there is a hole poked in the headliner. I would replace with new when repairing the sunroof mechanism

  • The A/C system is not hooked up, lthough all the original parts are still there.

  • The automatic heat control is not functional, ut moving the levers manually provides heat.

  • Steering wheel stitching has come loose in a few places

Extra Parts Included (not installed on vehicle)

  • Original rear window wiper motor, ount, echanism, nd arm are included.

  • Original Turbo tail condenser and fiberglass fan duct
