1991 Pontiac Grand Prix SE Richard Petty Signature Edition ONE OF 43 PRODUCED with only 467 MILES!
1991 Richard Petty Grand Prix - Much rarer than the 1992 Richard Petty Grand Prix (1,000 made) are the 1991 Richard Petty Edition Grand Prix (43 made – matching Petty’s car number) These very special editions were not available thru Pontiac dealerships and were not assigned a specific RPO code. They were assembled as SE Coupes with the 3.1L engine and then sent to Petty Enterprises for the cosmetic conversion to a Richard Petty Edition. These were Pepsi promotional prize cars that could be won if you got the LUCKY bottle Cap or Tab!
These white Grand Prix SE were customized with:
- Richard Petty Edition stripe on lower body (each side) and across rear of trunk lid.
- Custom Designed by Petty Enterprises badging on each door
- Pontiac decal across top of windshield
- Petty decal lower right corner of windshield
- Pepsi key chain
They were meant to be won in a promotion for Pepsi by finding a winning can tab or bottle cap (wining symbol ‘CAR’). It is also my understanding that only 22 were actually awarded this way. It is unclear how the remaining 21 were distributed but I believe some were given away in entry draws. Secondary prizes were:
- 4,300 Richard Petty check for $43 (winning symbol ‘$43’)
- 43,000 Richard Petty / Pepsi T-shirts (‘SHIRT’)
- 43,000,000 Free Medium Pepsi at Pizza Hut (‘PZHUT’)
This Museum quality vehicle would make a excellent edition to any Museum or personal collection and is the finest example known to exist!
