1971 Pontiac Bonneville

This big, beautiful 1971 Pontiac Bonneville is one of the best ways to be distinctive, yet unmistakably American, in an affordable package. It's a two-owner hardtop with its number's matching big V8 getting a proper rebuild only a few years ago. And everything from the stylish paint package to the loaded interior makes this a striking boulevard machine.
This big coupe has big 70's style. It's wearing its correct Sandalwood color, and the consignor states this is original to the car. There are some touch-ups and signs of enjoyments, but overall, we'd all like to look this good after a half-century! And the brown vinyl roof gives you that classic premium appearance in a true 1970s-style color package. In fact, these Bonnevilles have a great sense of premium style. You see it in the details, like how the sheetmetal conforms to the quad headlight package. And speaking of the front end, this was built before new bumper laws, and so that chrome king gets to be an integral part of the distinctive deign. The same goes for Bonneville badging and Pontiac Rally II wheels.
The handsome interior coordinates with the exterior paint for well-done look. The second owner has had this coupe for nearly two-decades, and one of his improvements was re-covering the seats in a correct-style upholstery. It's large car with plenty of room for family and friends, but like Pontiac, the focus is always on the driver. The wrap-around gauge cluster puts all the controls within easy reach, and the tilt steering column makes it easy to see the crisp gauges. This has been upgraded in some nice ways. For example, the factory air conditioning now runs on modern R134a refrigerant (it will likely need a recharge.) And while the classic Delco AM radio is still on display, the rear driving music comes from an AM/FM/CD stereo in a custom center console.
This coupe was born with Pontiac's legendary 455 cubic-inch V8. The numbers matching motor was pulled and refreshed a few years ago. It was even bored to 462ci total. Now this original powerhouse has a fresh but stock look, and it runs like a well-kept machine should. The four-barrel carburetor lets it inhale deeply, and the Flowmaster dual exhaust lets it exhale with a nice tune. It has the kind of power that allows this Bonneville to live up to its effortless cruiser image. This is backed up by power steering, power brakes, front discs, and the numbers-matching three-speed automatic transmission for the ultimate easy driving classic.
