Differential, Gran Turismo Omologato (GTO package included a 4bbl 389 V8, dual exhausts, sports springs and shocks, special 7 blade fan and fan clutch, Red Line or WSW tires, chrome air cleaner cover, chrome rocker arm covers, GTO emblems) VIN: 237675P343598 Exterior: - Please see the video along with the listing, as the car is shown in detail. Blemishes are all shown close-up and under direct sunlight. Blemishes are minimal; blemishes include a few small chips that have been touched-up, as well as a couple hairline paint cracks. Again, please defer to the video. - While originally Tiger Gold, a special-order color, the car was fully restored in the late 90s and underwent a color change to a fantastic shade of dark blue metallic. In direct sunlight it has a slightly purple hue to it, and in dim lighting appears as midnight blue. Paint was done to a very high standard and presents extremely well. A nice, glassy finish with no run, dust, or anything of the sort. A show-worthy car, no doubt. There isn't a spec of gold paint to be found, the color change was done properly and looks great. The pinstripe is in a light gold color, presumably a tribute to the original color. Pinstripe is stuck on and can easily be removed, though we do think it looks quite good. - Glass and light lenses are all clear and crack-free. Lights and signals are all functional. No scratched glass, hard water stains, or anything like that. - 15" Torque Thrust wheels are excellent, with no curb rash or damage. Firehawk Indy 500 tires are in great shape despite being 15 years old, and have covered about 4000 miles in that time. - Panel fitment is excellent throughout, doors open and close nice and smoothly. - Body is nice and straight. No dents, dings, or scuffs. - Blue convertible top is excellent, with no punctures or real signs of age. Rear plastic is clear, not yellowed or creased. Power top functions as it should. Blue boot cover fits great. - Polished surfaces are all excellent. This car has been babied, garage-kept, adult-owned and it shows. No oxidation or damage on any of the polished surfaces. Bumpers and trim pieces all look great. Interior: - Blue vinyl interior is excellent, having been completely gone-through when the car was restored twenty some odd years ago. A great restomod-style look with the Pontiac logos centered in the seatbacks. Interestingly enough, the car was originally optioned with gold interior in addition to a gold exterior. Wear throughout the interior is minimal. Really the only areas that show any real observable wear are the floormats and the carpeting along the edge of the footwell, as those do show a bit of age. Not frayed and gross, but just not with a nice deep color like the rest of the carpet. Outer bolsters of the seats are excellent, free of any belt scrapes or things like that. Dash top is mint, and the wood faced cluster is in great shape. - Odometer reads 73,510 and is functional. Original engine, and the odometer is believed to be accurate based on records and observable wear, though we cannot be positive, as it is a restored car. - Kenwood KND-801 Controller, Kenwood KDC-C717 CD changer, Soundstream AirBass remote, power antennae. Installed September 2002 at a cost of nearly $1100. Sound system is absolutely epic. Sounds fantastic, not dated, and the head unit fits in the interior seamlessly. - Windows all roll up nice and smoothly and fit as they should. Definitely looks like it would be water-tight if necessary. Mechanical / Underbody: - Please take a look through the underbody photos, as the car is documented in detail. This car looks quite good underneath. Structurally sound, nice solid black metal throughout, and much of the suspension components still appear like new, having been installed fifteen years and four thousand miles ago. - The car runs and drives beautifully. It starts right up first turn, idles cool and steady, pulls hard through the gears, shifts smoothly, has excellent steering, and the ride quality is very good. No rattles, shimmying, or any other noises or tendencies of concern. The car tracks straight down the road, and brakes straight and effectively. Truly dialed-in, as we would say. Buy with confidence, this car is very much ready to enjoy as-is. Service records with the car include the following, among many other, less significant services: 2002: Replace front and rear sway bars, front and rear springs (1" lower), new bushings. Replace 4bbl carb. New front and rear disc brakes. New 4-core radiator, hoses, and electric cooling fan. New Torque Trust wheels (15x7) and Indy 500 tires. 2003: Replace upper and lower ball joints, four control arms and braces, front A-arm bushings, power steering pump. Install Hedman Headers. Replace fuel tank, sending unit, and insulation. Replace oil pan gaskets, valve cover kit. Replace hood pad. Replace trunk body mounts. Install new lap belts, replace retractor covers. 2010: Replace center link. Replace distributor and rotor. Flush brake fluid. Wheel alignment. Car will come with a nice thick folder of documentation. Documents include the original (not a copy) 1965 dealer invoice for the car from Franklin-Weber Motors of Chicago, which shows VIN number, engine number, options, and sale price of $3,657. Car will also come with the original 1965 title as well as the current Illinois title, Pontiac Historical Society documents, the owner's manual, twenty years of service records, and a variety of relevant handbooks and marketing materials.
