Description:

1968 Pontiac GTO

This is an original numbers matching 1968 GTO survivor which I have owned for several years. It has been garage kept in Arizona and driven intermittently but was never a daily driver.

Equipment:

PS

PB

Rally wheels

Driver rear view mirror

OPGI AM/FM radio (original in trunk)

Vinyl top

Split bench seat

Automatic transmission/column shift

Rally clock

Vintage A/C added (all original parts in trunk)

Body & Paint

As far as my mechanic could tell the sheet metal is original and without rust or damage repair (painted about 3 years ago and verified by the painter). The body is straight as can be as you can see in the pictures. There are no rusted floor pans anywhere. You will find nothing more than mild surface rust on the under carriage. The frame is in excellent shape, again, with only minor surface rust.

The paint was done by a retired painter. It looks great but is not show quality. The color is not the original Mayfair Maize but is now Solar Red. No rust shows through on the body anywhere.

The rear bumper is excellent. The chrome trim looks good but might have a small ding in places.

The vinyl top was replaced while I have owned the car and has no tears. The interior is in very good condition and was informed it was original when I purchased the car. There are no tears or worn areas.

Engine

The 400 ci V8 fires up like a new vehicle and runs strong.

What has been done to the car?

Front suspension rebuilt, new rear shocks

Original carburetor rebuilt about 2 months ago

Original Harrison radiator recored (still have original metal tags)

New dash pad

New carpet

New fuel pump

What needs replacing?

Rear package shelf should be replaced. Rear speaker and clock do not work.

Red Line tires were new when the car was purchased and still have plenty of tread but are old.

Disclaimer

Please understand that I have been as honest and complete as possible regarding the description. I am not a mechanic, just someone who likes vintage muscle cars. The car is 50 years old and is not flawless but I would be very surprised if the person who buys it is disappointed. There are some good mechanics in Payson, AZ. If you would like a compete mechanical assessment by one of them, I would be glad to arrange it. Otherwise, please do your due diligence and consider buying this vehicle.

Independent inspections, questions and more picture requests are welcome.
