Description:

1976 Pontiac Trans Am

For sale is a rust free 1976 Pontiac Trans Am. The car is as dry as an old bone with the only rust I could find located in the trunk (some slight surface rust pictured). The prior owner told me he had some dents and a scrape fixed (and primered) and had stored the car for most of the last 10 years with the intention of restoring it. The car is typical of cars out here in the California central valley...completely toasted paint and interior but really nice sheet metal. It took photos of the paint which is sunburned and literally dissolving off of the body. The good part is you can repaint and reupholster the car (everything is available) without spending money on repairing rust which is common on these cars. The car does run with gas added to the carburetor and has the 400 big block engine but should have the gas tank drained and cleaned (please don't plan on driving this car out of here unless you go through it first). Interesting is the fact that 1976 was the year that California would cease the sale of big block cars (you could get an Oldsmobile 403 small block) and also 4 speed cars due to the inability of the cars to meet California's strict emission requirements. If you wanted a big block...you had to go across the state line which it appears this owner did (Nevada). The car is loaded with options including air conditioning, power steering, power disc brakes, tilt, and front and rear consoles. The car is missing its original steering wheel and the air conditioning compressor. Some of the interior parts were removed (again by the prior owner) who was planning to restore the interior (they come with the car and are pictured...I believe they are all there but cannot guarantee it). The front parking lights are also included...one has a broken tab. The lower front spoiler is missing (it is available after market) and the passenger side chin spoiler is cracked but it comes with an extra good one. I put brand new Pontiac Rally wheels and centers on the car (15 X 7 front and 15 X 8 rear) which look great...they cost over $1000 (the tires are old). I had planned to restore this car myself but have two other projects ongoing which are taking what little spare time I have. This is a really cool car and the last of the desirable single headlight cars. I am old enough to remember when these cars were everywhere...now I cannot recall the last time I saw one on the road...even out here in California. Being a 42 year old used car, it is sold as is where is without a warranty. Please inspect the car prior to the auctions close. I have tried to convey everything I personally know about the car and am happy to answer any questions you may have regarding the car. As the car may be advertised for sale locally, I do reserve the right to end the auction early. Thanks. (530) 723-2145.
