Description:

1971 Pontiac GTO

This GTO starts and runs down the road. It has the 455 engine that has been just rebuilt and has about 100 miles max on it.Just put it in this winter and now have it back on the road for cruising.I put forged pistons and steel rods with the original crank back in. The heads were rebuilt with new stainless valves and new spring, locks and retainers.I have the crane cams 1.65 roller rockers with the ram air 4 cam.The car has a nice rough idle. I also had the turbo 400 transmission rebuilt and and new mild stall converter. While I was at it I had the rearend rebuilt with new 3.42 gear and new moser axels at Sadler Driveline. The drive shaft had new ujoints and a rebalance. The alternator and carburetor were rebuilt while off too. This car has never been restored and is in good shape 47 years old.The 1972 fender vents were added by original owne, he took it back to dealer and had them added in late 71 early 72,I was told. The original air cleaner is long gone and in its place a top flow kn style one. Yes it could use some weather stripping and some seals. There is a small rock chip in the windshield, who knows how long its been there, I forget its there its so small. I have done nothing to the body since I have owned it, I just wash and wax it and drive it.I have taken pictures of a couple spots on the body to show you this is not a show car either. I put new BFG Goodwrench tires on a set of refurbished rally wheels. This car was a original honey comb wheel car but I took them off because I liked the rallys better but will include the original honeycombs wheels and caps that came with it. The black interior is all original and in good shape but yes shows some age. I was working on getting the air to work but this is where I am at now. I have the compressor mounted but nothing hooked up yet. I have the under dash duck work that was taken out at some point by a previous owner. Only 534 455 automatics built in 1971. This car was originally a black vinyl top car making it a triple black 455 car!! About as close to a judge with out the higher insurance as you were going to get back then.Take a look at all the pictures because I am selling this car as is with no reserve. Thanks
