Description:

1979 Pontiac Trans Am

You're bidding on a 1979 Pontiac Trans Am. This is a true black on black car. Very solid body overall - check out all of the pics. Low reserve - priced to sell. More specifics below.
Here is a walk-around video with the car running: https://vimeo.com/272028854
DRIVETRAIN:
It left the factory with the Pontiac 301 four barrel engine, but has been upgraded to a Pontiac 350 that features an Offenhauser intake, a Holley carb (believe it's a 750 cfm) and headers. The fuel filter and air filter have been replaced. The exhaust has been replaced. Runs good. The transmission is a TH350 in good working order. The rearend is the factory posi.
PAINT / BODY:
The car was from down south and has a very solid body. The frame rails, rear body panel, trunk, trunk drops and rockers all look very good. There are a couple of small patches in the floors, but overall, look very good. The doors have a small amount of rust at the bottom, rear corners. The passenger side fender has a small dent. The paint shines, but has blemishes (scratches, touch-ups, etc.). I would say it looks good from about 10 feet away. The car was repainted in the factory color of black. It has a silver and violet stripe that runs over the top of the car, similar to the '70-'72 T/As. There is a new, red, Pontiac arrowhead emblem on the nose. The nose and grills are from a '78 model. This was changed by a previous owner, but I like the look of it, so I left it. There is a crack in the windshield, but is on the lower, passenger side, so it does not obstruct the view of the driver. I do have a new windshield available at extra cost.
INTERIOR:
The headliner and rear package tray have been replaced. Carpet is in good condition. The dash pad has cracks, but I have another one available at extra cost to the winning bidder if interested. Front seats will eventually need to be recovered. All of the gauges work, except the clock.
BRAKES, STEERING, SUSPENSION, WHEELS, TIRES:
The front rotors, calipers, pads and brake hoses have been replaced. The rear brake hose, hard lines and wheel cylinders have been replaced. The front stabilizer end links have been replaced. Shocks have been replaced. The car has the performance suspension from the factory - still has the subframe braces and larger rear sway bar (believe it is the 3/4" bar). The tires are like new - all four are 235/60R15 in size. The center caps are new. Wheels are the 15x7 Snowflakes and are in good condition
NEW PARTS:
The following parts have been replaced:
- alternator- battery hold-down- spark plugs- spark plug wires- distributor cap- valve cover gaskets
SUMMARY:
This is a car that can be driven as-is or continue to restore as you drive. The body is very solid, so it won't need expensive rust repair. It has the very desirable color combo of black on black.
PAYMENT AND PICK-UP OF VEHICLE:
A deposit of $500 is due within 48 hours of auction end. This is to be paid by bank wire transfer. The balance is due within 4 days of auction end via bank wire transfer OR the car can be paid in full (with one payment). Pick-up and transportation is the responsibility of the buyer, but I can work with the shipping company. If you have questions, ask before bidding. The vehicle is sold as-is.
