·Hello and thanks for looking at my auction. What you are looking at is one of the most rare and desirable Trans Ams ever built. This is a true 1979 Pontiac Trans Am Special Order with the W72 package, which equipped the car with a high compression Pontiac 400 engine, mated to a Super T-10 4 speed transmission.Car and Driver magazine from that year said about the W72 package that it "would not pass this way again"....as this was the very last year you could order the big, high performance Pontiac 400 engine. Pontiac only built 1107 of these cars, so this one is a very, very special vehicle.

First, the story...... You hear and see.. “one owner” in a lot of adds. Is it true?? Who knows. “I” special ordered this car and have owner it from new. I am the “one owner”, the “original owner”, the “only” owner !!

I special ordered (filled out the build sheet) this car in late September 1978 and received delivery on December 6th, 1978 with 21 miles on the car. I have the “protecto Plate” with my name on it to prove it.. If your looking for a “Smoky Bandit” car like 1000’s of them, this is not your car. I did not want “One of the Same” and when ordering… I ordered “One of One”

It has 24,732 ORIGINAL miles, original paint, decals, interior, wheels & drivetrain.

This is a one of one built car as you will see….. The options as follow:

Starlight Black exterior with the red/orange decal package.

Black interior

Silver 8” Honey comb Rims

Special (Rare) L78/W-72 Pontiac Engine.

Borg Warner Super T-10, close ratio transmission

WS6 Performance package – 4-wheel disc brakes, HD springs and sway bars

3.23 Posi-Trac Rear End

Heavy Duty Coolant System

Heavy Duty Electrical System

Power Windows

Power Brakes

Power Trunk Release

Tilt Steering Wheel

Ordered – Radio Delete

Interior Light Package

Acoustical Insulation

All of the other normal options….

Throughout my career the car was stored in Houston Texas in a climate-controlled area. I retired a few years ago and brought the car to Florida to retire with me. A sitting car has it’s good & bad. It preserves everything – good, but moving parts don’t move – bad. So, in 2013, I took the car apart. I replaced EVERYTHING, busing, bearing, sandblasted and painted EVERYTHING independently and the under carriage with POR-15 to protect it for life, then put it back together. I sent the Original brake calipers off for rebuild with stainless steel sleeves. It cost more to send the originals than get rebuilds and use the originals for cores, but I wanted the originals on the car, naturally new performance pads were installed. I changed all the body mount bushings, rear end, leaf springs etc.., the motor was pulled and painted. The transmission was flushed and filled with new synthetic lube. A new clutch assembly was installed, a new radiator.I have photos of this. In August 2017, I replaced All AC components and charged the new system with the original R12 refrigerant (Rare - & hard to find). I wanted to keep it original.

All in all, what this car represents is the very end of the original musclecar era.It is NOT a 403ci Oldsmobile engine or the dead 400ci Pontiac engine that resides in most of the 79’s.It is a very rare and exceptional piece of automotive history and is a very sought-after car by true collectors who know what it is. I hope this car is purchased by someone who is familiar with its legacy and who appreciates its rarity and value. It is an exceptional example and is of a very high collector quality....and it will only continue to appreciate financially as the years go by. Don’t hesitate to call me with any questions, as I know “Everything” there is to know about this car. I have owned it for almost 40 years. It truly runs, drives and looks as new… the day I picked it up… 40 years ago! 321-632-1613 for any questions.

I have 100’s of pictures of the frame-on reconditioning I did on a thumb drive that will go with the car to the new owner.
