First introduced in 1957, the Bonneville was a large full size flagship car sold by Pontiac and spanned 10 generations over nearly 50 years. The third generation example was sold from 1961 to 1964 and was one of the largest and most luxurious Pontiacs ever offered. WIth the most standard features, the largest available powertrains, and distinctive brand styling cues, the third generation was enough to propel Pontiac to third place in the sales race. The headline news with this car is the 421cid V8 mated to the rare floor shift 4-speed manual transmission, a combination of which just 15 were made according to the current owner. Professionally rebuilt, it features factory Tri-Power carbs courtesy of three Rochester 2bbls. The engine features the correct casting number of 543797. It is also equipped with power steering as well as an aluminium radiator. Initially sold as a blue over blue with white top, this car received a very comprehensive professional color change. The exterior has been repainted Starlight Black and is excellent condition on the perfectly straight body. No rust, rot, filler, or accident repair has been done and the frame is likewise free of blemishes. The chrome and rubber trim is superb and very original and complete. The convertible top was recently replaced and a black fabric was chosen to replace the factory white. The top fitment and power operation is flawless. Originally blue, the interior was replaced with high quality black leather that is in wonderful shape. The interior has excellent wood and metal trim and features a factory tachometer as well as gauges for temperature, oil, and vacuum. It also features the factory Pontiac heater as well as factory dual speaker. Other than the color change, everything is very original and shows extremely well. The rare factory "8-lug wheels" are present and in nice shape with decent GT Radial tires. Dual exhaust and Safe-T-Track rear differential are other notable features. Tons of other parts have been fitted and this is a very solid running and driving example. Featured in some prominent Pontiac publications, this rare bird is sure to make a splash wherever it goes.
