THESE VERY RARE TRANS AM'S WERE ONLY BUILT OUT OF THE VAN NUYS PLANT & ONLY IN 1978 WITH 2 THINGS IN MIND, AS MUCH HORSEPOWER AS THEY COULD GET OUT OF THE PONTIAC 400 & SECONDLY THEY WANTED THE TRANS AM TO HAVE CORNER HANDLING WHICH MEANT THE T/A WOULD FINALLY GET BRAKE & SUSPENSION PERFORMANCE UPGRADES. THUS THE WS6/W72 TRANS AM WAS BORN.
WHEN TESTED BY MOTOR TREND / CAR & DRIVER IN A HEAD TO HEAD "STREET FIGHT" WITH THE BEST AMERICAN PERFORMANCE CARS BUILT IN 1978, THE CORVETTE, Z28, KING COBRA, MONZA SPYDER V8 & OF COURSE THE WS6/W72 TRANS AM THESE VAN NUYS CA.PRODUCTION TRANS AM'S WON IN EVERY CATEGORY,

Well as far as this 1978 Trans Am's description I will describe it to the best of my ability & pass along the information I was told about its original owne, it is atrue VAN NUYS Ca. plant production special ordered 1978 RED on RED Trans Am, W72/WS6 package Pontiac 400/220h, factory 4sp, factory AC, power disc brakes, power steering, original Delco am/fmstereo cassette, rear window defros, dealer installed rear window louvers, PHS (Pontiac Historical Services) documented and documents will be included. This Trans Am is unrestored original matching #'s from bumper to bumper with the only performance change being a set of headers over 30 years ago.The engine has never been opened so it maintains its stock bore & all the original performance modifications done at the Van Nuys Plant. If your not familiar with the Van Nuys 78 Trans Am's specific's, the actual changes that took place to set it apart from all other Trans Am, " I encourage you to see for yourself " by looking up online the- King of the Hill 1978 Trans A, the WS6/W72 Van Nuys Ca.Production
GOOGLE, AOL, BING & YAHOO search engines, check MECUM Collector Car Auctions, McLaughlin Trans Am Museum or any number of different Trans Am specialist across the country. You will quickly find out these few cars are highly sought after & considered to be the LAST REAL MUSCLE CAR by many and the last ALL PONTIACTrans Am by most.
Just in case you won't be able to read about or have time to research online, many of thespecificVan NuysCa. performance changes to the 1978 WS6/W72 TRANS AM 4sp that I spoke about above are as follows
Only the W72 engines were treated with the addition of the 350 Pontiac 6x4 heads (which increased piston compression rati, a higher duration camshaft, a higher CFM jetted Quadrajet carb, advanced timing ignition & a free flowing dual exhaust, these W72 cars had the highest horsepower of any Trans Am built in 1978. The 1st year for the WS6 upgrades included stiffer rear spring, different tighter shocks, better lower ratio steering gearbox, larger front & rear sway bars with polyurethane link bushings in place of rubber and best of all the 15 x 8 factory snowflake WS6 wheels which actually & finally had a "LIP" which created a completely new look. The air cleaner snorkel was made larger and the through hood "SHAKER" came with "T/A 6.6"decals on each side which made Pontiac Fans as proud as MOPAR Fans were with the HEMI callouts.
ATTENTION: * I am simply showing the importance of this 220hp Pontiac 400 cubic inch motor in 1978 to Pontiac & muscle car fans and NOT trying to compare this engine to the Legendary HEMI so please hold the rude insults and comments. I'm talking about this Trans Am being the best performance muscle car in 197, again 1978 so seriously please don't send me text & emails if you just want to insult m, my description or my car. After all no one is forcing you to read my long description. I'm writing in detail to inform those who may not kno, refresh the memory of those who may have forgotten, for those who owned aTrans Am decades ago or perhaps a favorite back in high school and most of all to let the bargain hunting eBayers know this is NOT the normal 78 Trans Am in hopes of avoiding unrealistic low offers. Also by know means am I putting down Trans Am's not built at the Van Nuys Plant because there a lot of great NORWOOD built 1978 T/A's . I am only talking about this Trans Am being a very rare hard to find car that will give the beginner collector, novice mechanic or father son team the same chances as the countries best builders & shops to own a piece of Pontiac history & a future 6 figure muscle car.
I could have easily spent $2500 & a few weeks labor on this Trans Am to have a great looking driver quality car which certainly means 99 out of 100 times I would probably get more money for it. However over the years I have heard"I wish they would have just left the car alone just like they found it" more times than I can count and yet still ignored them by giving any original car a quick make-over before selling it.Then last year I saw the BARN FIND 1969 Dodge Daytona (that the guys from AMERICAN PICKERS found in Alabama but passed on buying it for $40k)purchased by another man who loaded it onto a rollback WITH tubes in the flat dry rotted tires, WITH decades of dust, WITH pigeon poop, straw, spider webs, a mice city WITH droppings & left it there as he ran it through the MECUM COLLECTOR CAR AUCTION in Kissimmee Fla. last year (2016) where it sold for over $100,000+ . Well I am willing to bet that anyone who wants to buy this Trans Am will be planning a high quality restoration so I left it exactly as I found it!
As far as the kind of touch up, spray can or small artist brush hand paint .... I was "told" that the original owner refused to sell the car for many years and while battling Dementia /Alzheimer'shis family members allowed him to tinker on his Trans Am because obviously it made him happy. I could have cleaned up the stainless window trim or taken off the horrible looking eagle sticker on the fenders or cleaned the windows but I really enjoyed this story about its history & honestly believed it because the only other option would be the owners 7 yr old child watched an episode of OVERHAULINGand was then left unsupervised to think they would make dads old car look like new (LOL)
At 40 years old this T/A has all its original body panels still on the car & will need some easy rust repair, will need both lower rear 1/4 extension patch panels, driver floor pan has some quarter size holes (pictured, passenger floor pan will need patch panel, trunk pan has several pencil size holes (pictured) but concentrated in one area so again can easily be repaire, the trunk hinge areas are great as is the weatherstripping lip & trunk lid. The original front fenders are in great shape with just minor rust on the lowerextensions thateven the beginner welder could repair. The sub-frame and firewall look great, core support and radiator area look good (pictured). The rocker panels look good and entire car is in far better shape than expected for a 40 year old original Southern 4spd, POSI muscle car (WS6 wheels look good & appear to have survived from hitting any curbs. This Trans Am starts & runs but in order to drive it onto or into a trailer it will need a battery & its loud due to a hole in the bottom of one of the headers.( pictured) It has a brand new Edelbrock carb, fuel pum, filter and lines just to make it easy to start and not soak up a bunch of old gas into the Van Nuys modified original Quadrajet. But it is present & (included ) along with the original air cleaner & larger snorkel.

a great investment, a realKING OF THE HILL-1978 TRANS AMin this condition with correct #'s matching & running. Because its arare T/A with ALL the sought after performance option, WS, W72 400 Pontiac powe, 4spd, FOUR SPEED, POS, FACTORY A/, REAR DEFROS, the most sought after color RED and the RED interior was SPECIAL ORDERED ON THIS TRANS AM because it wasnot available in this combination from the factory at any Pontiac Dealership in the country."This is the first time this Trans Am has been offered for sale NATIONALLY in its lifetime so don't miss this opportunity to own a collector TRANS AM that will easily been a 6 figure car when appraisedprofessionallyafter a high quality restoration.

I would appreciate peoplewithholdingany rudenegative thoughts and remarksfrom my auction as I simply want to sell this car & I am trying my hardest to list it to the best of my ability.

On Mar-03-18 at 19:47:58 PST, seller added the following information:

Because my auction did not include the word FIREBIRD it can not be found under normal eBay searches under mak, year and model since eBaydoesn'toffer a TRANS AM model my only choicewould be to list it under FIREBIRD so it can be seen under the normal searches. If eBay cant fix this for me tomorrow from their end I will be forced to cancel this listin, fix the model listing and immediately relist it. That will unfortunately cancel all bids and I apologize if that happens but assure you it will be relisted within minutes & hope you will bid again if it comes to that. Again, I apologize and thank you
