1979 Trans Am - Special Edition Black and Gold Smokey And The Bandit - Rare Z Code L78 400 Factory 4spd, they made only 1,107 but could even be less with factory T-Tops because you could get a Black and Gold Special Edition without T-Tops. Great Project and investment to restore. Y84 Special Edition Black and Gold Smokey And The Bandit with factoryT-Tops, also has WS6 Special Performance Package option that is factory rear disc brakes, Bigger front and rear sway bars, steering box and 15x8 SnowFlake rims . The factory color is Starlight Black with gold accents.This is a pretty solid and straight project, just needs hood, has some rust in the front lip of the hood. The floors and trunk look to be in pretty good shape, don't really see any major rust issues or major dents, just surface rust. The Black paint is very old and aged, the paint is checking from old age. This Trans Am has been in AZ and CA most of it's life.
The interior is in fair shape and will need complete interior kit, but looks like the interior is pretty complete.
All the glass is in fair usable shape but will need front windshield, it's cracked. The T-Tops look to be in fair usable shape and also comes with the factory GM T-Top covers.
The original 400 motor is gone but has a early 455 motor in the Trans Am now and it does start up and run with gas down the carb. The original matching number 4spd is still in the car along with the original Hurst shifter. Still has the original Disc posi rear end with the sway bar.
Comes with lots of extra interior parts and more that you can see in the posted pictures along with details of the Trans Am.
Has the original tags in the driver side door along with the cowl tag that has all the details about the Trans Am, also says Y84 on the cowl tag that is pretty rare because a lot of the Special Edition Trans Am's did not say Y84 on the cowl tag, It's usually on the build sheet (PHS), so it's really cool to see that on the cowl tag. Also says CC1 that proves it's a real factory T-Top Car.
