1973 Firebird Formula with great build potential
1973 Pontiac Firebird Formula
This is a true Formula Firebird
I think the car is a Formula 350, the previous owner put Formula 400 badges on the car.
I was told the engine is a 1969 WS 400 from the previous seller.
The right valve cover has an oil leak if the engine runs too long, begins to smoke on the exhaust manifold. (New MT valve covers and gaskets are listed in the "extra parts" section of this ad.
The brakes bleed off after sitting for several weeks. I haven't driven the car regularly but I have to pump the brakes up before pulling out of the garage. I don't see any fluid leaks.
The left-side frame rail under the rear seat area has some rust (See pictures). I had a custom car builder look at it to give me an estimate for repair, which came back at $500. It doesn't seem to affect the drivability of the car when I drove her last, but it will eventually need repaired.
The right-side frame rail is showing some minor signs of rust.
The car has some minor rusting in various places, please see pictures and let me know if you have any questions.
The clear coat is peeling on the top of the car, see pictures. I was told the car was originally a white color, but a previous owner painted the car.
Unknown mileage on car, the mileage posted in the ad was a guess since Ebay wanted a number for the mileage.
The car has been stored in a garage for the 9 years I have owned her. The engine will start and run, and the last time I drove the car on the street (3 years ago) the transmission operated just fine. I haven't had much time for the car over the last few years, but have started the engine regularly and bought things to add to the car (see list below) but like I said kept the items on a shelf. If the car sells for the "buy it now" price, the purchaser will receive all the extra parts I have for the car.
Extra Parts: NEW PARTS - chrome differential cover, chrome water neck, Roller rockers and push rods, fuel pump block off plate, HEI distributor and spark plug wires, MT valve covers with new gaskets, chrome valve cover studs, brake & fuel pedals with chrome trim, turn signal and tilt wheel levers, chrome dipstick, intake gaskets, and water pump gasket set. USED PARTS - 2 rims and tires (14"), original AC parts, Trans Am steering wheel and hub, and passenger side inner fender well.
Keep in mind this is a 44 year old vehicle, so blemishes and issues will be present. This is not a daily driver car, and needs some attention to get her to that point. This vehicle is sold "As is" and does not include a warranty from the seller. Please ask any questions you may have before offering to purchase the vehicle.
Buyer is responsible for transportation. Buyer must pay a non-refundable deposit of $500 via PayPal within 24 hours of auction close. The remaining balance must be paid by bank wire or certified check within 7 days of auction close. The vehicle will not be released until the full amount is paid, and a Bill of Sale and the Vehicle Title will be provided to the buyer after the full amount is paid in full.
