This ’68 Firebird is a really cool reminder of what these cars were like back in the 70’s when they were just getting some wear. This ’68 is still quite stock with 94k showing on the odometer. The previous owner stated that it has turned over indicating this car has 194k which is quite hard to believe by both its mechanical and visual condition. The body is wearing just a a few paint touch ups since new.The wheels were upgraded to 15” Rally’s but otherwise this is a very stock & original example. This car is perfect for a no guilt driver. No reason to cry about a rock chip or getting caught out in the rain. Just drive and enjoy. For those of you looking for a clean example, take a good look at this one. We did and were very pleasantly surprised.

The body on this Firebird is in good condition with no signs of any major body issues in its history. We thought this one had a repaint but after a polish it appears that this is for the most part the original paint with the exception ofpaint touch ups to the drivers front fender and tip of rear driver's quarter. The look like theytook place about 30 years ago, theyhavesome sun damage but really makeyou look close to see where the original paint starts and stops. Since this has been a Washington State car, thankfully it has missed the ravages of salt. The floors do look solid with just a very small spot of rust on the passenger front floor pan. There are a couple of small bubbles one on the passenger rear quarter, a small spot on the drivers front fender and at the base of the rear window. The trunk pan wears its original spatter paint and is extremely well preserved.

Inside the original ‘Firebird Custom Interior’ is a nice upgrade from the standard interior option. Done in a black weave upholstery and padded door panels it just looks richer. There is of course the obvious wear on the driver’s seat but overall it is still in good condition.

The 400 is the Verified Original Numbers Matching Engine. Pontiac used an ‘Engine Unit Number’, not a VIN number stamping on the front of the block. The only way to verify the engine as original would be to have the original owner’s car or the PHS documentation. This engine number matches the PHS docs. The engine appears to be in its original, untouched configuration. So no signs of a prior rebuild. It is stock down to the original spark plug wire holders, vacuum fittings, chrome valve covers, original air cleaner, etc. There is a small exhaust leak on the driver's exhaust manifold, minor and not really noticeable except to thetrained ear. It runs very well with plenty of that torque the 400 CID Pontiacs were famous for. With 10.75 Compression it takes premium fuel to make that 330 horsepower.

This 3-Speed Hydra-Matic transmission is also an upgrade from the common 2 speed units. It still works nicely.

This car drives very well. The steering is precise and the power steering has just that perfect amount of assist. Driving down the highway is easy and predictable. The brakes are manual and do require a little effort but stop the car easily.

PHS documentation shows this car as a factory Redline Tire car as well. Though long lost, reproduction tires from BF Goodrich are made and would really complete the look of this car!
