Description:

1963 Pontiac Grand Prix

Here is an opportunity to acquire a very rare original 1963 Pontiac Grand Prix 421 HO with a factory 4-speed manual transmission. This is a numbers matching car that was originally a 353 hp four barrel (1 of 621 produced according to it's PHS documentation) car that was upgraded to the 370 hp tri-power version. The Grand Prix is a nice driver quality vehicle that runs and drives great. Everything but the radio and clock works. Even the factory dash tachometer is operational. Engine block casting # 544988, engine I.D. 08B, 10:75 compression ratio, 353 hp 455 lb-ft torque, 421 H.O. block, 4bbl. Has 9770716 factory heads, long branch header manifolds with high flow after market exhaust. Car was upgraded along the way to 1963 tri-power, upping the horsepower to 370. Runs very strong. Mileage shows 8,900 but must be over 100K due to the 5 digit odometer.
The Grand Prix is currently black but was originally Cameo Ivory from the factory. Paint is driver quality (not show), with some thin spots and paint flaws. I'd rate it somewhere between and 5 and 6 where 10 is show. Undercarriage is solid, has some small rust through spots on driver floor board but not structural. Does not appear to have any significant body filler on lower panels (strong magnet attraction in those areas). Appears to have all it's original fenders, doors, rockers and quarters.
Emergency brake, tail lights, brake lights, parking lights, turn signals, both high and low beams, horn, and windshield wipers are operational. Interior courtesy lights and dash lights work. Heater blower and heater controls work. What doesn't work are the radio and clock.
The interior has it's original seat covers and door panels. It's actually in very nice condition considering it's age. Has new dash pad, head liner, and carpet.
The car was just recently aligned last fall. Tracks straight with minimal play. Steering is pretty much what you would expect for a 1960's vehicle, not like today's technology. Brakes are operational. The right front 8-lug drum needs relining due to pulsation. This can be done for $250 with new bearings and races plus shipping. Visit Pontiac8lugs.com for more info or call 815-735-4002 and ask for Larry. I was planning on having this done but the turn around time right now is about 4 weeks.
Engine is tight and runs strong. I have a receipt, showing it was rebuilt, by a previous owner that I will include along with the PHS document.
Transmission shifts smoothly and clutch is very good, exibiting no slippage or throw out bearing noise. Rear end is 3:42 gear ratio and has Safe-T-Track posi.
All in all, this is a very nice driver that will draw much attention at car shows and cruise-ins. You just don't see many full size Pontiac's like this today. This is a classic that can be driven anywhere and enjoyed without the worry of a stone chip ruining your show quality paint. Cars, such as these, are appreciating rapidly and will continue in the future. Nineteen sixtees and 70's, Firebirds, GTO's, Camaro's, Chevelle's are untouchable right now.
The Grand Prix is being sold "As Is" "Where Is". No waranty expressed or implied. Please do your homework before bidding on shipping costs. As one. knows it's always best to inspect a vehicle before bidding. I do my best to describe the condition of my vehicles for sale without over selling. I've sold many on ebay and everyone has been happy with their purchase.
Thanks for viewing my auction and Bid with Confidence!!
