1979 Pontiac Trans Am

I am looking into selling my Trans Am. I have owned the car for about 5 years and I am selling to move on to my next project.
Car is COMPLETE! Some of the pictures I am posting of the interior and undercarriage are from when I did the work, the car is completely assembled now
Clean and clear title
Here's some info:
The Good
-1979 Trans Am
-Originally Special Edition Starlight Black with black interior. Car was repainted Red at some point in the past.
-PHS documentation showing Y84 and WS6 options included with sale including window sticker.
-Originally a 301 4spd, now has a Pontiac 400.
-Odometer reads 18,xxx. Read 10,xxx when I bought it with inop speedometer/odometer. True miles unknown. Speedometer recently stopped working again.
-Lots of work done to the car with pictures to document. Hundreds of pics!
- New floor pans welded in and coated with POR15. Interior all covered in Dynamat!
- New Soffseal weatherstripping on the tops. Has all new seals for the rest of the car still in new plastic bags.
-Interior was recently re-done with new seat upholstery, door panels, center console, carpet.
-Rear end recently rebuilt. $1000 job. Still has the stock 3.08 and posi.
-Car has been dyno tuned to run at optimum efficiency. Put down 307RWHP and 380RWTQ. Dyno sheets included. Car ran 13.8 at 103 MPH at Epping, NH.
-Car has 15x8 snowflakes. Rear tires have Nitto NT555R tires. 275/60/15.
-Whole undercarriage stripped and painted to prevent rust.
-New Pro-Touring F-Body leaf springs. new shocks.
-Car has new Pro-Touring F-Body solid body bushings installed and will come with subframe connectors I haven't installed yet.
-A lot of other extra parts as well.
The Bad
The car looks decent but it definitely needs body work and paint. The paint does not shine like it used to and it is really starting to fade. The pictures posted are less than a year old, but the paint does not shine as well now. My plan was a complete strip and re-paint back to original black and gold. The front grilles are also in need of replacement as they have become brittle and cracked.
Rust. I tried to capture all of the rust spots in the pictures. Passenger fender bottom, bottoms of both doors, some spots on the rocker panels, rear quarters are bubbling behind the doors, and a few small spots in the trunk. There is a poorly done patch in the trunk that could stand to be re-done as well. Structurally, as you can see in the photos, the car is very solid.
Interior wise the car had the front seats re-done a few years ago. The material is not the correct hobnail and the drivers seat cover has burn damage (see photo). Rear seats are pretty nice and original. Center console is a few years old, gauge face was re-done by Randy Combs in the correct gold. Dash is in decent shape with some cracking as most do. T-Tops interior trim are damaged and some piece missing. Overall, decent driver quality but it really does need work.
The front windshield needs to be replaced. PO welded near it and did not cover it and left burn marks all over it. Same with the T Tops, but I have a spare set that will go with the car.
Mechanically, the car runs amazing. Starts real easy and will drive anywhere. I just did a 140 mile round trip down to the Cape yesterday and the car did not miss a beat. Only mechanical issue is every 40-50 shifts 2nd gear grinds. I do not know why, doesn't seem to follow any pattern. I was going to swap to a T56 so I never worried to much about it.
All in all it is a great driver, that really needs some attention to get to the next level. I want to switch over to an A-Body and that is the only reason I am selling.
Car is for sale locally as well, I will end the auction if a local deal is made. Contact me if you are interested.
There's a lot of information so any questions just let me know! I take really good care of the car, oil changes by time, not mileage. If you have any further questions message me or call 774-259-3393.
