HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE...the famed Art Deco period began in the 1920s and continued strongly through the 1930s and early 1940s. After the war, the Art Deco era designs began to fade rapidly from new products and architectural design. Today, Art Deco design is highly prized and it was no more dynamic anywhere than in the automobile.
Few 1940 Pontiacs survived, and that is a shame because their "Silver Streak" design elements distinguished the marque beautifully from anything else on the road. That this car can be enjoyed on modern roads and in comfort in all weather makes owning this car a real treat. It's almost impossible to go anywhere without admiring glances and many enthusiastic questions about the model year and its history.

GENERAL OVERVIEW & DETAILS...the owner had a high-end show car that wasn't a lot of fun because once he got home from a show, he had to spend hours detailing the paint to remove all the bugs, etc. The restoration objective with the 1940 Pontiac was to have a high standard of chrome/stainless/interior combined with a modern drivetrain and Air Conditioning...BUT, with a satin black finish that was was cost-effective to apply and maintain. Therefore, the satin black finish will have a few defects and flaws here and there but with a relatively high-grade interior and trim to enjoy Overall, it is a very sharp car with a crisp look as the quality chrome/stainless contrasts dramatically with the satin black finish.

IMPORTANT IMAGE NOTES: To fully illustrate this impressive 1940 Pontiac, there are over 100 images. The first 19 images are intended to give a quick overall presentation of the car from a variety of vantage points. Then, there are specific sets of images (for serious buyers) that show great detail in these areas: Interior, Exterior, Engine Compartment, Trunk, and Undercarriage.

Seasoned collectors and enthusiasts know that to really "know" a car, a close-up look all around it is a MUST!

To see ALL the images...you MUST place your cursor on an image - allow plenty of time for all images to download - and then scroll slowly ALL the way to the bottom.
CAUTION: if you use the scroller to the FAR RIGHT of your screen or the "Click to view image album" feature...you will NOT see all the images.

ABOUT ME: I am an avid car enthusiast. After retiring from 30 years of sales and marketing in a Global 100 company, I formed Murphy Endeavors, LLC and began buying and selling classic cars as a collector and for friends and clients. This rare 1940 Pontiac belongs to a fellow classic car enthusiast.

Please note that I have had over 2,600 eBay transactions with happy folks and have sold classic cars to eBay customers in Brazil, Sweden, Switzerland, France, Germany, Australia, Russia, Canada, Japan, and throughout the United States.
IMPORTANT FINAL REMARKS, CONDITIONS OF SALE, and MODEL YEAR DETAILS...the Buyer will receive a Notarized Bill of Sale, the current Georgia Registration document, and a Pennsylvania title issued to a prior owner in 1984.

NOTE: Georgia does not issue titles for vehicles built prior to 1962, the Registration Document serves as the ownership document. Georgia also generally follows the previous titling details of a vehicle. Some experts feel that this Pontiac MIGHT be a 1941 model (rather than 1940). Research with the state of Pennsylvania (which originally titled the car 11-21-1940) revealed that it was common Pennsylvania practice in 1940 to title any new car as the model year in which it was sold. Therefore, a November 1940 sale of a 1941 model would be recorded as a 1940 model year. Whether this actually happened with this car is unsure, but the 1984 Pennsylvania title referencing the original 11-21-1940 titling of the car is included with the sale.

Though this classic Pontiac has been rebuilt/refinished/restored with care - it remains a 76 year-old automobile. The need for repairs and maintenance with any vehicle is an ongoing activity - often required without notice. Therefore, this sale is strictly on an as-is and final basis with no warranties or liabilities expressed or implied.

ODOMETER NOTE: The odometer was not re-set after the restoration. However, less than 3000 miles have been driven on the car since the completion of its restoration. The actual mileage of the car (since 1940) is impossible to determine due to the design limitations of the odometer, and is largely irrelevant owing to the modernization of the car's drivetrain.

Every effort has been made to present this classic car completely and accurately to the best of our knowledge and resources, but errors and oversights are possible. Therefore, pre-purchase examination of the vehicle (if desired) is welcomed before the listing's end and can be easily arranged by appointment.
