1974 Pontiac Firebird

Hello, This is a listing for my 1974 Pontiac Trans Am 455. It is an original 455 car from the factory. It has the original block (see pics) I am not a dealer or a car flipper. Just a muscle car enthusiast. I need to sell this Trans Am to pay for a new work truck I just recently purchased. I already know I have much more money into this car than I can hope to get out, so I am listing this at what I believe to be wholesale price...the reserve is under 25k and this car compared to some of the other junk I see listed here is definitely going to be a great buy for someone. Well over 35k invested on my end but I know I need to sell it and have a more than reasonable reserve. I want to sell this car and I'm not going to keep relisting it at a ridiculous price like most on here.
History: The car was originally delivered to Barton Oil Company in Spokane, WA. (have docs) It must have been a "company car". Sometime around 1977 a family friend in CA purchased the vehicle and basically used it a bit and then stored it for couple decades. Around 2007 he started to restore the car. He had Joe Sherman Racing Engines in Santa Ana, CA rebuild the motor. It put out 585lb/ft of touque 9@3700 rpm) and 478 HP @ 4900 rpm on the dyno (have docs). He never got things going and the rebuilt motor and car sat until 2014 when me and my brother purchased the vehicle and then restored it. We believe the 49k miles to be original miles. Once I had the car the whole car was torn down and rebuilt. As the rebuilt motor was never installed in the car, only ran on the dyno in 2007, we tore the whole motor down and replaced all the gaskets, etc. before restarting. It fired right up and the motor is a beast!!
The Car: This is a original 455 Trans Am (I verified block matches VIN and pics attached) with auto trans that came in Buccaneer Red with Black interior. It has a high torque Joe Sherman motor build on the original 455 block. Edelbrock heads, intake and Carb. Although the block is original to the car, I do not have the original heads or intake. I am being conservative on my description of the car because I'm a car guy, not a flipper. This is an amazing high end driver. This is not a concourse car. Its a very clean, no rust, exceptional driver. More HP than you could ever use and handles on a dime. car is clean and no rust. The paint is good driver quality. I would rate it a 7 out of 10. There is a nick on the passenger front fender (see pics), and there is a section of some cloudy-ness on the top of the car...I think it just needs to be rubbed out. However zero rust on this car.
Body: The whole car was taken apart. The body was taken down to metal and all rust was removed. The car was repainted in it's original factory Buccaneer Red. The front clip was fully removed and powder coated. Many of the front end parts were also powder coated. everything in the engine bay was either refurbished or replaced. The whole A/C system was refurbished and fixed. It works and blows cold! the body and paint was done in 2014. Sticker kit professionally installed about 1 month ago.
Suspension: This car sits about 2 inches lower than stock due to the new Hotchkis suspension (leaf springs, front springs, tie rods, sway bars) and new Koni shocks all around. Car turns on a dime. handles really tight as you would expect Hotchkis suspension to. Car has SBCC disk brakes.
Engine: original 455 rebuild by Joe Sherman in 2007 and only ran on Dyno. in 2014 we tore down the engine and replaced all gaskets and checked tolerances, etc. I can only say the motor is a beast. the amount of torque this thing puts is insane. You can't hardly get all the power the the road it just melts the tires if you slam the gas. Once it grabs you better be ready for blastoff. The motor is extremely strong.I have a couple videos...contact me if you want to see them.
Interior: That is the original interior! we only replaced the carpet, headliner, package tray. That is one reason why we think the 49k miles is correct. Everything works except for the small clock on the speedo (typical). all the gauges work, A/C works, radio works. new speakers in back. headliner is tight.
Issues: As mentioned, the paint is a 7 (conservative), couple small issues I already listed above; The windows probably need to be adjusted to make them seal better. New gaskets but water can get in there when you're washing it it you hit the top directly with the hose. Also the trunk gasket doesn't quite seal fully so that need to be adjusted as well. Everything in the interior works except for the small factory clock on the speedo. This car came equipped with safety seats that require the driver sea belt to be buckled in order to start the car. The new owner might want to disable that...sort of annoying.
Basically there is too much for me to list here. Everything was touched on this car. It is a very solid driving car. The car is sold "as is" with no warranty, expressed or implied. It is the purchaser's responsibility to inspect the the car prior to sale to verify all information contained here within is correct. I have a clean CA title in hand. Please review the pictures. Please contact me if you have any questions, want to see the car in person, want me to take a certain picture, I'd be happy to take them for you. I want the new owner to be happy with the car. It won't disappoint.
