1969 Pontiac Tempest CUSTOM S

HI THERE,

YOU ARE LOOKING AT MY 1969 PONTIAC CUSTOM S. THE CUSTOM S IS THE MODEL ABOVE THE TEMPEST AND BELOW THE LEMANS. RARE ONE YEAR ONLY MODEL. ONLY 7912 2 DOOR COUPES BUILT. I BOUGHT THIS CAR IN 1999 FROM AN AD IN HEMMING'S MOTOR NEWS. THE LISTING SAID '69 LEMANS COUPE FOR $ 2,000. CAR WAS IN CT. WHEN I GOT THERE I WAS SURPRISED TO SEE THE CAR WAS A CUSTOM S AND HAD ONLY 68,000 ORIGINAL MILES AND WASALL #S MATCHING. I HAVE A CLEAR TITLE IN MY NAME. I AM THE SECOND OWNER ON PAPER. THE REAL SECOND OWNER NEVERPUT THE CAR IN HIS NAME. ALSO THE CAR HAS BEEN GARAGE KEPT SINCE 2003. CAR HAS LESS THAN 79,500 MILES.

I AM GOING TO GO OVER THE WHOLE CAR PHOTO BY PHOTO SO PLEASE IF INTERESTED READ THE COMPLETE DESCRIPTION.

PHOTO # 1:

THIS SHOWS THE ORIGINAL UNRESTORED FRONT BUMPER, GRILLES AND VALANCE PANEL. THE BUMPER HAS SOME CHROMEPEALING ON THE LOWERCORNERS. 2ND OWNER SPRAYED SOME SILVER ON THOSE AREAS. THE VALANCE HAS SOMEDINGS, PAINT CHIPS AND A HOLE ON THE PASSSIDE FOR A LICENSE PLATE BRACKET. IF YOU NEED THE BRACKET FOR A FRONT PLATE LET ME KNOW AND I WILL INCLUDE IT. THE GRILLESHAVE NO CRACKS AND WOULD LOOKLIKE NEWWITHFRESH PAINT. THEPARKING LAMP LENSES ARE ORIGINAL AND OK, BUT NOT PERFECT. THE HOOD IS RUST FREE, NOT KINKEDAND ONLY HAS A FEW PAINT CHIPS. GRILLE EMBLEM IS ORIGINAL. BUMPER ARROW HEADEMBLEM IS A REPOP. THE CAR ALSO HAD ALL 4 T-3 HEADLAMPS, BUT I INSTALLED NEW HALOGEN HEADLAMPS FOR BETTER NIGHT DRIVING.

PHOTO # 2:

THIS SHOWS THE AMES REPOP REAR BUMPER I INSTALLED IN 2001, ORIGINAL HAD NO DENTS OR DINGS BUT DRIVER'S SIDE CORNER WASROTTEDAWAY. TAILLAMPBEZELS ARE VERY NICE ONES I FOUND ON EBAY. ALMOST NO PITS AND VERYGOOD CHROME FOR ORIGINAL. ONLY HADTOREPAINT THEBLACK AREA. LENSES ARE THE ORIGINAL WITH NO VISIBLE CRACKS. HOUSING ARE VERY NICE ORIGINALS,WITHNEW MOUNTINGSTUDS,NUTS AND GROUND STRAPS. DECK LID IS ORIGINAL AND HAS ADING AND ONE SMALL RUST SPOT ON THE LOWERPASS SIDE. ITHAPPENEDSOON AFTER I GOT THE CAR BACK FROM PAINT, BUT NEVERGOT WORSE. PONTIAC EMBLEM IS ORIGINAL. THE DUAL EXHAUST IS A NEW ALUMINIZED SYSTEM. 2 1/4 INCH TAILPIPES. 2 INCHHEADPIPES. STOCK TYPE UNEQUAL LENGTH TURBO MUFFLERS. FUEL TANK IS A REPOP I BOUGHT IN ABOUT 1995 FROM AMES. IHAD THE TANKINMY '69 LEMANS. I PARTED THAT CAR OUT IN 2003 AND INSTALLED THE TANK IN THE CUSTOM S.

PHOTO # 3 AND 4:

THIS SHOWS THE DRIVER'S AND PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CAR. I HAD MACCO IN QUEENS, NY PAINT THE CAR IN 2003. THEY INSTALLED PATCHPANELS ON THE BOTTEM OF THE FENDER'S. BOTH SIDES. REPAIRED A SMALL DENT IN THE DRIVER'S DOOR. INSTALLED QUARTERPANELSKINS ONBOTH SIDES. THE INNER AND OUT WHEELHOUSES ARE ORIGINAL. THE OUTER NEED A LITTLE WORK. I GAVE THEM THE CAR STRIPPED OF ALL TRIM AND BUMPERS. NO INTERIOR EITHER. THEPAINT HELD UP OK. THE BODYWORKIS NOT VERY GOOD. IT'S A 20 FOOTER. THE CAR IS VERY SOLID BUT WOULD BE ALOT BETTER WITH THE BODY WORK REDONE AND ANEWPAINT JOB. YOU CAN SEE THE LEAD SEEM ON THE ROOF TO QUARTER JOINT.ROCKER MOLDING ARE ORIGINAL AND THE350 EMBLEMS AREREPOPS.THE FRONT AND REAR MARKER LENSES ARE ORIGINAL. THE REARS HAVE REPOP BEZELS.

PHOTO # 5:

THIS SHOWS THE ONLY DENT ON THE FENDER LIP. NO OTHER DENTS, BUT THE DRIVER'S SIDE QUARTER PANEL NEAR THE MARKER LIGHT WAS SCRATCHED BY THIS SAME MORON THAT HIT THE CAR WHILE PARKED. MY GUT TOLD ME NOT TO PARK THERE. YOU SHOULD ALWAYS TRUST YOUR GUT. CUSTOM S EMBLEMS WERE NOS.

PHOTO # 6:

THIS SHOWS THE ORIGINAL PAINT UNDER THE DECK LID. I NEVER DID ANY OF THE WEATHER STRIP ON THE CAR, ALL ORIGINAL. I PUTTHE NEW STICKER ON.

PHOTO # 7:

THIS SHOWS THE TRUNK FLOOR IS VERY SOLID. DRIVER'S SIDE TAILLAMP LEAKED A BIT AND RUSTED THE AREA BELOW THE HOUSING A LITTLE. SO I'D SAY THE TRUNK IS 95% RUST FREE.

PHOTO # 8:

THIS SHOWS THE NEW REAR SEAT DIVIDER I PUT IN. ALSO THE REAR SPEAKER HOLES ARE NOT CUT OPEN AND THE PACKAGE TRAYSHEET METAL IS IN VERY GOOD SHAPE.

PHOTO # 9:

IF I WAS KEEPING THE CAR I WOULD GET REDLINE RADIALS, BUT THAT'S WHAT I LIKE, I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU LIKE. I ALSO REPLACED THE SPRINGS AND SHOCKS IN 2003. SHOCKS ARE KYB, PAINTED GRAY. ALL BALL JOINTS, TIE RODS, CENTER LINK, POLY BUSHINGS REPLACED IN 2003. NEW STAINLESS STEEL BRAKE LINES IN 2003. BRAND NEW BRAKE SHOES DONE A FEW MONTHS AGO. THE FRAME AND CONTROL ARMS ARE SOLID WITH ONLY SOME SURFACE RUST. REAR LOWER CONTROL ARMS ARE BOXED, BUT WITHOUTA SWAY BAR. POWER STEERING BOX IS ALSO NEW.IT'S AQUICK RATIO3 TURN LOCK TO LOCK BOX.

INTAKE IS A 4 BARREL EDELBROCK RPM. CARBURATORIS A 650 CFM EDELBROCK WITH MANUAL CHOKE. I NEVER HOOKED UP THE CHOKE AND IT TAKES A LITTLE WHILE TO WARM UP. I DID ALSO INSTALL A 068 CAM AND ROLLER TIMING CHAIN BACK IN 2003. CAR ALSO HAS PERTRONIX ELECTRONIC IGNITION AND A MSD COIL. EXHAUST MANIFOLDS WERE JET HOT COATED IN 1995 AND ON MY '69 LEMANS. I PUT THEM ON THE CUSTOM S IN 2003. I ALSO INSTALLED A 4 CORE RADIATOR BACK IN 2003. NEW COOLING LINES A FEW MONTHS AGO. AND I PUT THE RECESSED WIPER MOTOR FROM MY '69 LEMANSIN THE CAR.
