1970 Plymouth Duster

Hello, Up for sale is my 1970 Plymouth Duster 340. It’s anolder restoration with only minimal miles on the completely rebuilt drivetrain. (1,000?) Vehicle is a numbersmatching H code 340 car with a firm, not harsh, manual shift body 727transmission and an 8 ¾ rear differential with open 3.23 gearing. Car isfinished in a basecoat/clear coat of factory burnt orange metallic done back in2012 like the full restoration. Paint is very smooth and shiny and was sprayed out very nicely. It does have a few nicks from age but no scratches. Body is laser straight with unbelievable shut lines and gaps. The metal appears to be all original with repairs being made tothe typical areas in front of and behind the rear wheels. Otherwise rockers, frame rails, floors and trunk are rock solid. All glass is good too with noscratches to any of the side glass and only minimal chips/wear to thewindshield.

Body is as I mentioned laser straight. But is does have some bubbling on the lower left side forward of the rear wheel and the lower right side rear of the wheel. (See photos) It’s hardly noticed when standing next to the vehicle and really doesn’t take away from this truly super straight shiny muscle car. Also there’s a slight dent in the front center section of the hood.(See photo) Bumpers are what look to be original to the vehicle and are showing their age and could use re-chroming to take the car to the next level. Tires are BFG Radial T/As with plenty of life left mounted on 14” factory rally wheels.

Interior is very nice with a few patched holes in the headliner. Nothing slightly. It has newer carpet, dash pad, new Legendary Interiors front seat foam and seat covers as well as a nice woodgrain floor shift console. Rear seat is original as well as the door and rear side panels and are in great condition. The rally dash is fully functional including tachometer and all gauges. Although after 50 years, I do question their accuracy. AM radio is partially there just for looks. All dash lights, interior lights, cigar lighter, E brake light, headlights, directional lights, flashers, fan speed and heater controls function as they should. Wipers work but do not park.

The engine is the numbers matching 340. It’s relatively new when it comes to mileage (under 1,000 miles) but age dates back to 2012. It’s built to stock specs with its original “X” series cylinder heads, up graded Mopar electronic ignition and only an Edelbrock Performer RPM intake manifold and Edelbrock 600CFM electric choke carburetor. Exhaust exits through factory HP exhaust manifolds and out through a stock sounding dual factory one year only code N41 turndown exhaust tips.

Car has its factory 4 piston manual front disc brakes, tinted windows, seat belts and shoulder harnesses and a remote left sidemirror. No Power Steering.

The car has a lot of new components including all new (2012)suspension components. I.E. rear leaf springs, 4 shocks, all tie rods, torsion bars and bushings, upper control arm bushings, all ball joints, pitman arm and idler arm. All replaced. Same with the brakes... new hoses and full length lines, rotors, drums, pads, shoes, calipers, wheel cylinders, brake cables and hardware. Fuel lines, fuel tank, sending unit and fuel pump all new or newer.

Car was like I mentioned earlier, restored back 2012 but rarely driven. Then it sat 3 years, then it was sold and sat again for 5 more years, two of which were outside in the element under a car cover. That’s when the car developed the bubbling issues. A real shame to such a nice car. But now it’s been refreshed, revived and back to being enjoyed…ready for a new home.

To conclude, the car drives and tracks straight down the road with no pulling or darting. There are no real noises from the drivetrain except a slight rear differential whine that’s only heard at between the speeds of 48 and 54 MPH when the gas pedal is lightly applied. Coasting the noise is not heard. Remarkably there are no rattles or wind noise when driving. Also currently no fluid leaks what so ever. Car is really tight. It’s a pretty amazing car considering its 50 years old. I tried to be as accurate as possible with my description and condition of the vehicle. But I’m sure I missed something. So here’s my cell phone number if you’d like to speak with me. My name is Dave:631-796-7173 Located in Long Island, NY. Thanks for looking and good luck with your bid to buy.

Please note that the car is for sale locally and through word of mouth and that it could be sold with out notice also, sorry, I'mnot interestedin any typesof trades. Thanks,
