Description:

1971 Plymouth GTX

Im lisiting this car as needing a complete restoration as is and where is. Pictures are part of the description. Since there are a lot of opinions out there I will tell you what I know and you judge for yourself.
THIS IS A NUMBERS MATCHING REAL RUNNING AND DRIVING (and damn good looking btw) 1971 Plymouth GTX
I bought the car as you see it so my history on it is limited. This is your typical LOCAL mom and pop cruise type car show. NOT a nut and bolt restoration Trailer queen. I would say a strong #2 DRIVER
It is a Florida car dating back many years. It was restored back in 2006 so its an older restoration that still shows well today. The paint is slick smooth and shiny, shows very well with a few blemishes. This car was originally a factory BLACK painted car. It has now been painted Burnt Orange.
The body is solid, its a factory undercoated car i didn't see any rust, and all the panels look good. Everything seems to be in order. There was a repair made to the trunk floor. It had to have been done years ago and i believe it was for cosmetic reasons. It was fiber-glassed over and solid as a rock. So up to you weather or not you want to change the trunk floor or not.the bumpers are re-chromed, it has new mirrors, new tail light bezels, new decals. Oh and i believe the hood stripes leading to the 440 call outs were had painted, (look great) & the grill is in great condition but painted black as well.
The interior is very well kept. I believe the seats are origina, in great condition, with no rips or tears. The carpet is new, as well as the headliner. Dash looks great no cracks. 150 mph speedo and tach with gauges all work except the fuel gauge. It will need a sending unit. Headlights, brake lights, blinkers, high beams all work. Reverse lights do not seem to be hooked up. Turn signal indicators are there, wire leads are there, but for whatever reason they are not hooked up. Door panels are ok driver side has some slight discoloration up high (like someone leaning there arm out the window for years) Steering wheel in nice shape.
The 440 Original numbers matching engine runs very healthy with a nice lope. It retains mostly all of its accessories as well as one year only air cleaner. The original carb is long gone. In place is an elect. choke holley. Currently has wrapped headers on it passenger side has exhaust leak. Im not a fan of headers. I do have the correct exhaust manifolds and they will be included in the sale. The factory shotgun tips are in tact. In good condition and on the car. The oil pan gasket is somewhat wet from oil & could stand to be replaced.
The original numbers matching HD automatic transmission has recently been rebuilt and a new B&M converter deep pan and trans cooler installed. (i have reciept)
I have some factory documentation (safety test w vin# started in 1971) owners manual, and misc. all go with the car.
Fender tag is in tact. pic included to decode
the car is a factory a/c car. everything is there. i have not messed with it. so its status is inop.
I dont think you can loose no matter which way you go. My reserve is low and my intent is to sell the car. I have too many cars & projects at the moment. If you keep it fix a little of this & that and drive it as is. Or Totally restore a bad ass BLACK NUMBERS MATCHING GTX. The choice is yours.
