Description:

1953 Plymouth Other

For Sale is a 1953 Plymouth Cambridge 2 door, with a low reserve. I found this Plymouth in a barn in Pennsylvania where it was parked in 1981. The woman I bought the car from said her late husband bought the car, drove it home, parked it in the barn and left it there. I oiled the cylinders, cleaned out fuel tank, replaced fuel pump, battery, plugs, and ignition wires. The car fired up and the motor sounds great, very quiet and smooth. I put a used radiator in it, it works fine but it isn't correct for that car. The origional one needs to be recored and is in the trunk. I put in a new master cylinder, wheel cylinders and necessary brake lines. The car has hy-drive, which works well, although a standard shift you can stop and start off without depressing the clutch. The tires hold air but are very old and need replacing. Except for the tires, it runs and drives great. The odometer says 28,000, no way to verify that but I was told it was low mileage and there's very little wear on the brake and gas pedals. The car is very solid, The trunk and floors are in great shape except for the drivers side floor is rusted thru and will need a patch( see pictures), and the bottom of the fenders have had some small rust repairs many years ago. The passenger side door and front fender had some sheet metal riveted over dents. See picture. The hood and front right fender had some surface rust so I sanded and primed them and other areas where paint was lifting. It appeared to have an engine fire at some point. The interior is in very good shape, with a small wear spot on divers side seat back and the worn front rubber floor mat, other than that its in very good shape. The car is being sold with a bill of sale. I do have the origional title from 1953, the elderly woman who purchased it's death certificate, the executors of her will's bill of sale selling it to the woman I bought it from and a bill of sale from her to me, she never titled it in her own name. She's 89 years old.
