MotoeXotica Classic Cars is pleased to present this unique and rarely seen 1949 Hudson Super 6 Commodore. Finished in a rare and all original two tone green, he paint shows as to be expected considering its age but displays a lovely period patina that can only been found on all original cars. It is believed to have only 31,876 miles on the odometer and is sold on an actual mileage title.

Inside, he light brown herringbone tweed cloth seats all look great with no major signs of wear visible. The door panels are finished in light golden brown crushed velour cloth to compliment the seats. Dashboard wood trim is exceptional and highlights the fantastic craftsmanship of the era. Paint and body are displayed as to be expected from a well cared for low mileage car that is 66 years old, ody is straight with no areas of major repair that we could find.

Introduced in December 1947, he Hudson Commodore was one of the first new-design postwar cars made. The 1948 model year inaugurated Hudson’s trademarked “Monobuilt” construction or “step-down” automobile. The new models were designed by Frank Spring and car styled by Betty Thatcher,”the first woman designer to be employed by a car manufacturer”.

These cars had a light but strong semi-unit body with a perimeter frame. Because of the encircling frame, assengers stepped down into the vehicles. Hudson’s step-down design made the body lower than contemporary cars. It offered passengers the safety of being surrounded by the car’s chassis with a lower center of gravity. In addition to the added safety of being surrounded by the car’s chassis, he step-down also allowed Hudson to gain weight savings provided through unibody construction, aking for a well-performing automobile. The cars featured slab-sided bodies with fully integrated fenders. Brougham and sedans were fastbacks while convertibles and coupes were notchbacks . A character line ran from the front to back further lowering the car even more visually, o “the new Hudson looked like a dream car straight from the auto show”. In 1948, ommodores came in one series, nd were available in either I8 or I6 power. Interiors were upholstered in broadcloth on sedans, eather on convertibles. Again, udson continued to provide numerous standard features that other manufacturers classified as upcharge options.

For 1949, he Commodore line was enlarged to include more luxurious Custom models. As a marketing promotion, he 1948-1949 Hudson Commodore Six was the costlier (about $200 more) companion series to the Super Six. It was available as a Brougham convertible as well as in two- and four-door sedan body types during these years. The chief difference from the Super Six was a more lushly appointed interior. The 1948-1949 Hudson Commodore Six included such amenities as fold-down armrests and a chrome-plated steering column.

This nicely represented and largely original Hudson Commodore 6 is equipped with a 121 hp 262 inline 6 cylinder engine and 3-speed manual transmission. The car drives out extremely well and is solid through out.

With the low production numbers these Hudsons are becoming increasingly hard to find in such solid well kept condition. GET OUT AND DRIVE!!!

Current mileage on the odometer shows 31,876,. The car is being sold on a clean & clear actual mileage title.
