Finished in stunning black this 1937 Piece Arrow Model 1701 5-passenger Sedan with a 139” wheelbase is ready to transport the driver back into the hay day of American luxury car manufacturing. Originally built to compete with the best the world had to offer from Peerless to Rolls Royce. The Pierce Arrow’s exceptional reputation led them to be used as the first Presidential White House cars under President Taft. What made Pierce motorcars exceptionally luxurious and rare was the fact that Pierce was the only American motorcar manufacture that did not lower prices or even to offer a cheaper model while the Great Depression was financially draining most of America. Pierce ceased manufacturing and selling cars in 1938 making the model 1701 Pierce Arrow exceptionally rare and the last of an era. In fact only 166 were built in 1937. Pierce Motorcar Company prided themselves as the makers of the “world’s safest car.” The “Super Frame” (new in 1936) was comprised of boxed girders along with cross-members that provided a vast increase in stability and safety. Pierce made no exception to price rather they focused on premium quality.

The incredible Model 1701 Pierce Arrow that we are offering shows dramatically in any situation. There are very minor flaws in the paint typical from occasional use but do not detract from the phenomenal presence this car has. The cosmetic restoration was done professionally and at great expense using modern base-clear paint to ensure longevity of the finish with minimal maintenance. Based on available information we estimate the age of this restoration to be approximately 15 to 20 years old. Exterior steel body panels are straight and have only very few imperfections. The northern ash interior panels also show beautifully. The 5 passengers will be satisfied with the recovered Laidlaw cloth seats which are in great condition. All of the original interior accessories that would have been present when the original owner received their Pierce are there and fit well in their rightful place. The mahogany interior accents in the rear have been refinished and look great. Functioning original gauges fit well in the original northern ash dashboard panel. The unique speedometer which serves as a tachometer for all 3 forward gears functions wonderfully and is truly one-of-a-kind. Modern white-wall radial tires even the side mounted spare have been chosen to provide the classic look with the modern safety standards. To complete the car the chrome accents are in good condition with only minor blemishes in the rear taillight assembly.
