1971 Other Makes Porsche 917/10 Race

Up for sale is the Team T-Bone Porsche 917/10 replica built for the $2016 Grassroots Mortorsports Challenge. The replica is based on the 1971 STP PORSCHE 917/10 Spyder driven by Jo Siffert in the Can-Am series.
The car started out as a 1995 Camaro Z-28 with a 5.7L LT-1 that was relocated to be mid-engined. It has350 wheel horsepower, with 300 ft lb torque and weighs only 2,570 lbs. The body is fully removable and can be propped up like a funny car for spectator viewing and ease of access. The carplaced 2nd overall in a field of about 50 cars and took 1st place in the Concourse event. It appeared nationwide in the February 2017 issue of Grassroots Motorsports Magazine.
Specs:The 1995 LT-1 is stock except for shaved heads, Fel-pro head gaskets, AC pulley delete, headers, & open intake. It has a stand-alone engine wiring harness, 175 hp shot of Nitrous, and an electronic Nitrous controller. The transmission is a mildly built 4l60E automatic with high friction clutches, a B&M street/strip shift kit, and a corvette servo. A B&M Quicksilver shifter is mounted in the cockpit. The rear end is bolted directly to the transmission on a pivoting engine mount. The rear end has a limited slip differential and 4:10 gears. Racing style switch panel controls all car functions. Rollover hoop and cage, Sparco style racing seat, detachable steering wheel and a 4 point harness new in the box (old one has been removed). The car comes with a pair of like new Hoosier drag slicks on Aero rims, and a set of 4 Hoosier A6 racing slicks mounted on Corvette rims. The tank has 110 Octane racing fuel in it and the car has a new battery and battery box.
Performance: The car is very quick! It was set up as a combo autocross/drag car for the challenge. It runs 11.8 sec in the quarter mile without any drag racing setup other than rear tires. It placed 4th overall in a field of 50 entries in the autocross event on worn out street tread front tires and Hoosier A6 rear tires (see video). It is much faster in the autocross on Hoosiers all the way around, but they were not available during the challenge due to budget constraints. It has been raced about 35 times in total and runs very strong. The car is not legal or sanctioned for any racing body. It was built for exhibition purposes only and on a very limited budget. It does have a clean Florida title and was registered until recently as a street legal 1995 Camaro in Florida. Body: The body weighs 140 lbs and is held on by 4 bolts to the chassis for easy removal. It is made of 2.5 mm hardwood plywood over a 2x2 and 2x4 spuce frame, foam filler, bondo-glass fiberglass, bondo, automotive primer, and a single stage base/clearcoat paint in Coca-Cola red. The frame is painted entirely white top and bottom save for some suspension bits. The car will come with one quart of red automotive paint for touch-up along with a roll of color matched vinyl tape for hiding body damage. This car has some cracks and splits from the racing it has experienced that are currently covered with the tape (see the pictures). It is not flawless but every person that sees it says it looks awesome.
DISCLAIMER: This thing would be fun to bring to a car club gathering, your local PCA event (to get mocked), Sebring, a historic event, or the 24 Hours of Daytona, etc. You might be able to race this at a local unsanctioned event with no tech inspection and risk your own life ... (like I did) but I wouldn't recommend it. It is not legal for any racing event that I know of and will need A LOT of work to be legal. Do not ask me what it will take to make it work for any racing series SCCA NASA LEMONS CHUMP DRIFT or NHRA, etc. because its' got WOOD IN IT ... AND I DON"T KNOW!!! AGAIN IT IS BEING SOLD FOR EXHIBITION ONLY!!!! (emphasis added)
I will work with any shipper that the buyer arranges. I will help load onto a truck or transport. I can deliver within 300 miles of 34484 for a fee.
