Restoration project/ Barn find -1967 Glas 1700 GT - German built with an Italian (Frua) designed body, one of the original 300 air freighted into North America through Los Angeles in 1967. The car was considered technologically advanced for the earliest production use of a timing belt. Glas was absorbed by BMW after a short production run of the 1700 GT, which then became the BMW 1600 GT.

  • 3rd owner (since 1983) - clean title,registered to the seller in British Columbia.
  • the car was partially restored (new timing belt, block resleeved, head machined, brakes, paint, trim re chromed, starter rebuilt) in 1986.
  • garage stored since 1988.
  • complete, straight car with good door sills, pillars and underbody.
  • the paint is serviceable but could be refreshed, minor rust points reappearing at the bottom of the door skins. Minor body dents and scratches from storage. The left headlight trim ring is dented and the trunk lock cylinder needs replacing.
  • the interior is in very good shape. There is some deterioration of the headliner at the quarter windows.
  • the car was running when stored but will need a mechanical renewal/rebuild. The engine has not been started/tested. The front disc brakes are free, the rears drums need to be freed. The car can be towed if necessary.
  • comes with an original owner's manual and service notebooks, shop manual (photocopy) and a Glas Owner's Club maintenance manual.
  • the original jack, tire wrench, and spare tire are with the car.
