4-door hardtop convertible
When it comes to rare post war classics it is hard to find a more rare car then a 1951 Frazer Manhattan 4-door hardtop convertible. The Kaiser Frazer Company also made a 4-door convertible but it is not as rare as the 4-door hardtop convertible in this ad.
As many know, after World War II, it had been almost eight years since the American automotive manufacturers were producing automobiles for private consumption. The Kaiser Frazer company after World War II was the first to come out with a new model and beat Chrysler, Ford and General Motors by almost 2 years before they came out with their new models that were different from pre-World War II models. The 1951 Frazer Manhattan was considered to be an exquisite design and featured power windows (pneumatic vacuum). It was designed to look just like the 4-door convertible only it was actually a hardtop.Keep in mind that General Motors did not come out with their hardtop line until 1949 and it was only in a 2-door sedan (not a 4-door sedan).
So if you are looking for the rarest of the rare and a beautiful frame on restored car, either for a one-car collector or a large automotive collection, the Frazer convertible will always draw major attention at any car show.Check out the abundance of chrome, the beautiful interior topped off with a fabulous color combination that we feel really shows off the lines of the car.
This car is owned by a private party who has taken wonderful care of it for the past five years. Here at MissChiTown we just love the color scheme of the green with the black interior accented by the large wide white walls. These cars are known to be excellent touring cars and the Kaiser Frazer company for the automatic transmission used the General Motors 4-speed Hydromatic and this gives it plenty of get up and go and excellent high speed touring.
The gentleman who is the private seller of this car has told us the following about this beautiful car.
What is believed to be the original engine was rebuilt by a Kaiser Frazer guru and the engine has been sorted out well with 200-300 miles since rebuild.
Garden Green Metallic paint.Seller believes this to be the original color to the car when new.
Check out the lovely chrome! The hubcaps are done to really show off the car and were extremely pricey.
ORIGINAL white vinyl top.
Black leather interior was used in the frame on restoration.
The 4-door hardtop convertible is a factory custom.
Wide white wall bias tires.
Automatic with the General Motors Hydromatic with upgraded dual range (seller tells us it works substantially better with the dual range).
The car also has new king pins, new tie rod ends, front suspension and all new brakes.
The private seller tells us that he originally spent $50,000.00 on restoration costs and $10,000.00 for the paint job alone and several thousands of dollars on the plating of necessary parts.Truly a ‘show and go’ car!!The private seller believes that this car would look fabulous in a museum or other show place.Yes, it is that nice!
As a side note, we all know that women hate to go to a party and find that somebody else is wearing the same dress that they are…well it is not much different for a car collector.Car collectors love to have the only model at any particular car show.We can almost guarantee that almost 99% of the shows that you go to there will not be another 1951 Frazer Manhattan 4-door hardtop convertible…now that is saying a lot!!!
So if this is the car that you just have to have, don’t feel bad about bidding your heart out, you will be glad you did.
Check out the photos and don’t hesitate to call us at 847-774-4857 with questions. If you are out of the country please call and introduce yourself so we can be comfortable if we accept your bid.
Again you will be bidding on one of the rarest post war cars – we have read that only 131 were produced and it is believed by Kaiser Frazer experts that only 12 exist and only 3 are restored…now that is really rare!!!
