1992 Oldsmobile Achieva SC QUAD IV RA

1992 ACHIEVASC RAIV (QUAD4 that is) WITH RAM AIR, .3L, UTOMATIC, RUISE, ILT, EATHER WRAPPED STEERING WHEEL AND GEAR SELECTOR,WORKING A/C WITH REAR PASSENGER VENTING FOR HEAT ANDA/C! (a conduit going under the console to the back seating area/nice idea), ELUXINTERIOR LIGHT GROUP (everything is well lit at night), PECIAL ORDER AM/FM/CD,6 SPEAKER EXTENDED RANGE STEREO RADIO(sounds better than one would expect [for 1992]was what I noticed, ad the laser cleaned have to check cd player)REMOTE CABLE TRUNK RELEASE, UEL CAP PROTECTED BY REMOTE FUEL DOOR, ECLININGFRONT SEAT/LUMBAR SUPPORT,FOLD DOWN SPLITREAR SEAT BACKS ALLOWING ACCESS TO THE TRUNK CARRYING LONG OBJECTS,FACTORY FOG LIGHTS,AN OVERHEAD CONSOLETTE (place for putting things where overhead lights are as well)REAR DEFROSTER, OWER ABSDISC BRAKES (standard on this model that work well), RONT AND REAR SWAY BARS,TWO DOOR (sc)SPORT COUPE, ith unheard of at the time OPTIONALFACTORY16 inch aluminum wheels (THEY ALSO MADE THEM THIS STYLE IN 15" AS WELL IF NOT STANDARD FOR THIS CAR)THAT STILLPOP PRETTY WELL BECAUSE HE PAID OVER $400.00 TO HAVE THE CLEARREFURBISHED. THISIS A FACTORY CLEAR COAT CODE CAR ALSO.THIS IS ONE LOW PRODUCTION AND HIGHLY OPTIONEDACHIEVA, ND NOT GRANDMAS FOUR DOOR WITH THE SIX CYLINDER WHICH PRODUCED LESS HPTHAN THE FOUR.THE OWNER DROVE IT IN THE SNOW HERE IN OREGON AND SAID IT ISSURPISINGLY GOOD IN THE SNOW WITH THE SIPED SNOW/ALL SEASONHANKOOK 16"TIRES, ND FRONT WHEEL DRIVE WITH THE ABS BRAKING.I NOR HE DROVE THE CAR HARD BUT IT MOVES PRETTY GOOD FOR WHAT IT IS. HE DROVE IT IN THE CITY TO THE STORE ETC.PRIMARILY AND PARKED IT IN THE NORTH FOURTY,WITH SOME 100 MILE TRIPS.I HAVE ONLY DRIVEN IT ONCE OUTSIDE THE SHOP AREA TO SEE IF EVERYTHING WORKED. NON-SMOKER CAR STILL SMELLS RIGHT.TRIP METER DOES NOT WORK. THERE IS A SECTION OF THE TRUNK WEATHERSTRIPPING THAT HAS SEPARATED THAT I HAVE'NT YET REPLACED IT,BUT IS THE SAME TRUNK OPENING AS THE FOUR DOOR CARS.COMES WITH FACTORY OWNERS MANUAL AND A FACTORY (GM) SHOP MANUAL.THIS WAS A $17,000 CAR IN 1992 DOLLARS. AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE THERE IS A BLUEYOU TUBE LINK WITH A VIRTUAL WALK AROUND VIDEO OFUNDERNEATH THIS CAR AND A DRIVEBYSO YOUCAN SEEWHAT YOU ARE LOOKING AT WITH MORE DETAIL,JUST CLICK ON IT AND IT WILL APPEAR.THIS CAR WOULD BE A GOOD CANDIDATE TO SHIP BACK EAST OR IN THE MIDWEST RUST BELT. TO FACILITATE THIS THERE IS A PROFESSIONALCARRIER SERVICE (open or enclosed)CALLED COBALT LOGISTICS 913-232-2142 (JOE) WHO CAN FASCILITATE ANY (national/international) AUTOCARTAGE NEEDS AND PROVIDE QUOTES TO YOUR DOOR if you would prefer this option as opposed to my delivery.

WITH GM AND THESE "S" ACHIEVACARSACCORDING TOTHEIRFACTORY SHOPMANUAL IN THEIR VIN NO.S DECODING SECTION PAGE 0A-3;THERE IS NO DISTINCTION MADE BETWEEN S ACHIEVAS OTHER THAN THE ENGINESTHEY PUT INTO THEMAND THE BADGING/TRIM THEY PUT ONTHEM.ON THE SL (non hi-performance) CARS THE FIFTH DIGIT OF THE VIN. WILL HAVE AN "F", HERE AS ON THE SCIN THIS CASEFOR SUREAND POSSIBLY THESCXCARS THERE WILL BE AN "L" AS THE FIFTH DIGIT INTHE VININ1992. THE ENGINES THEY PUT INTO THESE CARS ARE REFLECTED WITHIN THE 8THDIGIT OF THE VIN.WHICH MAKES THEM THE VERSIONS THAT THEY WERE MADE. SOME BROWSERS FOR BODY SHOPS ETC. DO NOT APPARENTLY MAKE THE PROPERDISTICTIONBETWWEN THE S-CARS AS IN GROUPING THIS CAR IN WITH THE SL'S BUT THIS IS NOT ACCURATE FOR THESE REASONS (please see pictured GMfactory vin production order breakdown courtesy of general motors).

THE SC ACCORDING TOMY RESEARCHGOT THE NEXT TOHIGHEST HP VERSIONENGINE IN 1992(160 HP LD2) 9.5:1 COMPRESSION6200RPMOF THE VERSIONS AND MOST OF THE GOOD PARTS OF THE 180 HPLGO SUCH AS THE LARGE PORTO86 HEAD, ALVES, HE INTAKE MANIFOLD WITH THE LARGE RUNNERS, NDUCTION SET-UPetc. AND ONE OF THE BEST OPTIONS IS THE AUTOMATIC (no shifting if you don't want to).ANTI-LOCK BRAKES WERE STANDARD ON THE SC, not something you just bolt on to an s car) AND A NOVEL (for the time)AN EXPENSIVE OPTION. I DO NOT BELIEVE THE SWAY BARS WERE STANDARD ON THE SC THEY HAD TO BE ORDERED ON THE SCAND MAY HAVE BEEN STANDARD ON THE HIGHER OUTPUT ENGINE OPTION SCX.IT HAS BOTH FRONT AND REAR SWAY BARS. THE PARTIAL VIN. NO. STAMPED ON THE ENGINE BLOCKNEAR THE STARTERMATCHES/COINCIDES WITHTHE VIN. NUMBER PERIOD. FACTORY RECOMMENDED 91 OCTANE.

WHAT I KNOW FOR A FACT IS THIS CAR HAS THE QUAD 4 ENGINE AND HAS A RAM AIR SYSTE, IF YOU LOOK AT THE SMALL TUBE IN THE PHOTO IT IS A CONDUIT THAT EXTRACTS COLD AIR FROM OUTSIDE THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT THROUGH AN OPENING IN THE RADIATOR CORE SUPPORT ALLOWINGCOLD AIR TOENTERJUST UNDER THE DRIVERS SIDE HEADLIGHT (clever), HAS PLENTY OF POWER FOR WHAT IT IS, OMING FROM AN OWNER WHO AT THAT TIME DROVE A PICK-UP WITH A 390 IN IT . IT HAULED TWO BIG GUYS UPA 7%GRADE WITHOUT PINGING OR LAGGINGWHICH TAKES TORQUE WHICH PORTENDS A FAIR MODECUM OF H.P.AT THE TIME THE OWNER HAD NO REASON TO TRY AND IMPRESS ME BECAUSEAT THE TIME AS IT WAS HIS CAR AND HE WAS NOT TRYING TO SELL ME ON IT AND AT THE TIME I REALLY DID NOT KNOW OR CAREHOW MUCH HP IT HAD, LTHOUGH I DID OFFER TO HIM THAT WE COULD I COULDMAKE APROM AND DO EXHAUST WORK AND GET ANOTHER40 HP BUT HE SAID NO BECAUSE IT HAD POWER ENOUGH FOR HIM.

ACCORDING TO WIKIPEDIATHEY MADE A SMALL NUMBER OF1992AND THE 1993SCCARS PERIOD THAT HAD HIGHER HP NUMBERS THAN ANY OF THE CARS WITH QUAD 4 's THAT SUCCEDED THEM.IT IS SIGNIFICANT IN GM LINEAGE FOR SEVERAL REASONS, NE OF WHICH IT WAS GM'S FIRST FORAY INTOTHE BIG 2.3FOUR CYLINDER FOURVALVE HEMI HEAD DESIGN THAT WAS THE IMPETUS AND FORMAL PREDECESSORFOR THE VERY SUCCESSFUL AND VENERABLE SATURN SC2 1.9LDOHC H/OENGINES. HOWEVER, N MY OPINION AND THAT OF OTHER TECHNICIANS IN 1992 THESE CARS EQUIPPED WITH THIS ENGINEWERE NOT READY TO BE INTRODUCED AND HAD TOO MANY BUGS. SOEVEN THOUGH THESE CARS SO EQUIPPED FROM OLDSMOBILE WERE NOT CHEAP MANY OWNERS GOT RID OF THEIR CARS PREMATURELY, RSOME KEPT THEM AND WORKED OUT THE BUGS ONE AT A TIME. SO IT WAS WITH THE PREVIOUS OWNER, HO LOVED THIS CAR ANDBROUGHT THIS CAR TO ME ON A REGULAR BASIS FOR MAINTENANCE AND REPAIRS. BELOW IS A LIST OF REPAIRS THAT I HAVE PERFORMED. I WILL HAVE UPLOADED A VIDEO SHOWING THIS CAR STILL HAS THE ORIGINAL DUAL MUFFLEREXHAUST SYSTEM THAT IS STILL IN GOOD SHAPE AND DOES NOT EVEN HAVE ANY RUST ON THE BOTTOM OF THE CAR BECAUSE SOUTHERN OREGON DOES NOT USE SALT THEY USE NON CORROSIVE CINDERS. THIS VEHICLE CAN EASILY BE MODIFIED TO ENHANCE ITS PERFORMANCE CHARACTERISTICS EVEN MOREWITH DIFFERENT EXHAUST AND PROM COMPONENTS BUT THE BEAUTY WITH THIS CAR IS THAT THE BUYER WOULD BE THE ONE TO MAKE THAT DECISION WITH THIS VEHICLE.IT HAS NEVER BEEN MODIFED MUCH LESS PERFORMANCE WISE.I NEVER HAD A REASON TOPAY ATTENTION TO THE MILES ON THIS VEHICLE UNTIL I TOOK POSSESSION OF IT. ALL THE RESEARCH ICAN DO AT MY DMVINDICATES THEY ARE REAL.

IOWN A SERVICEFACILITY ANDI AND OTHERS HAVE MAINTAINED THIS CAR FOR OVER A DECADE.I HAD NO INTENTION OF OWNING OR BUYING THIS CAR, T WAS JUST ANOTHER JOB AND THE OWNER WAS A FANATIC THAT BOUGHT THIS CAR NOT RUNNING AND SPENT AN INSANE AMOUNT OF MONEY OVER THE PERIOD HE HAD IT ON MAINTENANCE AND REPAIRS. IT HAS NEVERBEEN IN ACOLLISION THAT WE CAN ASCERTAINBUT HAS BEEN REPAINTED, LIKEL, INNITIALLY BECASUE ACCORDING TO OFFICIALBUILD ON THIS CAR THE PERFORMANCE PANELS ORDERED ON IT WERE SUPPOSEDLY ORIGINALLY PAINTED BLACK, ND THE OWNER MAY NOT HAVE LIKEDTHEM BLACK,THE HOOD WAS REPLACED BY US AND I BELIEVE A FENDER (reason unknownto us). PAINTING WAS ALSOLIKELY NECESSARYAS FAR AS HERE AND THERE WITH THE GENTLEMAN I RECIEVED IT FROMBECAUSE HE WAS OLD,WORE CORRECTIVE EYEWEAR ANDDIDN'T HAVE THE BEST DEPTH PERCEPTION IN LOW SPEED PARKING/BACKING SITUATIONS. THEY DID A PRETTY GOOD JOB,AS THEYCHARGED HIM ENOUGH. NO $50,000 RESTORATION HERE,BUT GOOD WORK FOR STREET/ SHOW. HE MET A LADY FRIEND AND SHE TOOK THE ACHIEVAS PLACEFOR HIS ATTENTIONAND HE OFFERED IT TO ME ON THE SPOT FOR A PRICEI COULD NOT REFUSE,BECAUSE HE WANTED A NEWEXPLORER.

NOT MANY THESE CARS OF THIS CONFIGURATION/CALIBER OUT THERE, ather most that are, re in someone's backyard, recked or in pieces OR OTHERWISE NOT RUNNING,IF THIS CAR WAS OTHER THAN AN SC, UCH AS AN SL, nbsp;IT WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN EQUIPPED AS SUCH ACCORDING TO ALL THE RESEARCH INFORMATION AVAILABLE.THIS CAR WAS A SALES PROMOTIONAL VERSION AND AS SUCHOFFERS A LOT OF TRANSPORTATION VALUE FOR THE MONEY, UST AS AN EVERYDAY CAR. TODAY THISVEHICLE ISA DEPARTURE FROM THEHOMELY BOXYECONOMY VEHICLESTHAT YOU CANMAKE PAYMENTS ON TODAY (that won't be worth anything in a few years). IT WILL REMAIN ALOT OF CAR FOR THE MONEY!IN ANOTHER YEAR IT WILL BE ELIGABLE FOR HISTORICAL VEHICLE REGISTRATION MAKING IT HIGHLYPRACTICAL (registration)DESIREABLE/ AND APPRECIATINGCOLLECTIBLE FOR THE CARCOLLECTOR FOR WHO MAY NOT BE DRIVING THE CAR EVERYDAY/SHOW CROWDFOR A VEHICLE OF THIS ERA.NOW ONE CAN PICK UP THESE CARS AT VALUE PRICES AS THERE BOTTOMING OUT STATUS ENDS ANDAPPRECIATION(for the one's left worth having)COMMENCESI AM OFFERING IT FOR AFRACTIION OF WHAT HE HAD IN THE CAR PRIMARILYBECAUSE I JUSTHAVE TOO MANY CARS TO HOUSE AND BELIEVE IT WILL SERVE SOMEONE WELL WITHOUT NEEDING ALOT OF MAINTENANCE MUCH LESS A RESTORATION! pric, What the car is,or is not, ust search for what you get for $3000.00 to $5000.00in an achieva or other gmintermediate size cars of this era that's worth having, hey are either clunkers or nice grandma and grandpa cars andARE NOWBEGINNING TOdemand premiUMS.

I CAN GIVE ITAWAY LOCALLY BUT I DESERVE SOMETHING BETTER THAN GIVEAWAY FOR HOW MUCH HAS BEEN PUT INTO IT.SHOWN AS IS, OLD AS IS I HAVE REPRESENTED THE CAR THE BEST I AM ABLE WITH 35 YEARS EXPERIENCE IN WORKING ON MOST ALL MAKES ANDTHE HELP OF ONLINE SOURCES, AN ONLY WARRANTY THELABOR AND PARTS THAT I HAVE INSTALLED AND NO FORMAL WARRANTY CAN BE OFFERED ORIMPLIED.SEE AND HEARHOW IT RUNS IN THE VIDEO, R COME HERE IN PERSON AND WE'LL GO FOR A DRIVEIF YOU REQUIRE OTHER REFERENCES THAN WIKIPEDIA PLEASE DO WHAT YOU NEED TO DO BEFORE BIDDING. THANKS FOR LOOKING!

THE ELABORATERAM AIR HAD A FACTORYBLOCK OFF PLATE IN THE FRONT JUST BEHIND THE DRIVERS HEADLIGHT EVEN THOUGH THERE IS AT LEAST ONE OTHER ENTRY POINT FOR AIR(still have block of plate, oes with the car), COLD AIRCOMES IN UNDER THAT DRIVERS HEADLIGHT, OES INTO A PLENUM OBVIOUSLY FOR THAT PURPOSE THEN THROUGH ARESONATOR, OMES BACK AROUND TOWARDS THE THROTTLE BODY GOING THROUGH A FACTORY VORTEX VALVE ENTERING THE THROTTLE BODY INCREASING HORSEPOWER AS IN THE FASTER THE SPEED THE GREATER THE RAM AIR EFFECT/DRAW. PRETTY HIGH TECH FOR GM IN 92 FOR A LITTLE MORE POWER, UTOLDS DIVISIONWANTED TO MAKE A STATEMENT WITH THIS PACKAGE/CAR AND THE DRAG RACING SPONSORSHIP THEY DID AT THIS TIME (see the pin pictured). THIS ENGINE HAS A TIMING CHAIN not a belt. MAY REPLACE THEMAF SOMETIMES HESITATES WHEN COLD. RUNS WELL, LTHOUGH THE BLOCK OFF PLATE MAY HAVE BEEN INSTALLED FOR COLD WEATHER OPERATION (until engine compartment is warmed) BECAUSE WHEN IT IS WARM IT DOES NOT HESITATE EVER.
