1984 Oldsmobile Cutlass

Lovers of Olds performance take notice. Here's the swan song of the Hurst partnership. This 1984 Oldsmobile Cutlass Hurst/Olds with the cool lightning rod shifter, is one of only 3,500 that were built for the final year, and this loaded T-top coupe has been treated with he kind of respect its rarity deserves. One look at the paint, and you can see this was certainly not a daily driver. We believe this is the original factory-applied silver and black, which has an exclusive layout just for 1984. The red stripes highlight some nice curves on the otherwise well-creased design. Plus, the hood scoop and deck lid spoiler practically scream "high performance." It's a design that gets to attract as much attention as a Buick Grand National for a fraction of the price.Inside, the Hurst/Olds got bucket seats and a proper console, something few other Oldsmobiles of the era can claim. The burgundy cloth strikes a nice balance between premium and aggressive, especially when it has been this well preserved. But the real party piece everyone will be looking at is the special three-lever Hurst Lightning rod shifter setup that gives full manual control of the automatic transmission underneath. And yes, we noticed the factory tag still on those rods, too! It's this special structure that also makes the factory upgrade to a full round gauge pack so helpful. After all, the factory tach will be extra helpful in this Hurst/Olds. As a true premium coupe, it came loaded with power seats, power windows, power locks, cruise control, and tilt wheel. All of it looks original and complete right down to the factory AM/FM/cassette stereo. This one comes with the desirable T-tops, and thanks to air conditioning, you can take them out any time of the year.Oldsmobile performance amounted to their rugged and torquey 307 cubic-inch V8, which it turns out, is virtually indestructible. Fortified with a four-barrel carburetor and rumbling dual exhaust, it provides the kind of old-school muscle that few others offered in the '80s. Just like the rest of the car's originality, the presentation is so authentic that we believe this is also the original motor. You saw the triple-stalk Hurst shifter in the interior, and on the road it allows you to get the most out of the V8. Plus, on days when you want to take it easy, just simply let the four-speed overdrive automatic shift itself. This one has more great features for both cruising and performance driving such as power steering and front disc brakes. It's all capped off by those flashy Oldsmobile Rallye wheels that have a great red trim ring to match the rest of the car, and they are mounted to proper Goodyear Eagle GTII tires. If you miss the Hurst/Olds era like the rest of us, than an affordable final year car is the perfect addition to your collection. It's going to be tough to find one as nice and original as this, so hurry up if you want it to be yours. Call today!!
