Evolve Motors is pleased to present this classic 1976 Oldsmobile Cutlass 442!

Ever dream of owning a piece of American automotive history? Well here’s your chance! The 1976 Olds Cutlass 442 was one of the last surviving muscle cars of the bygone era. By this time, he EPA had stepped in and put a stranglehold on the fast car market, ith their big engines and open exhaust causing. Catalytic converters and oxygen sensors took the place of open headers and leaded fuel. Oldsmobile, n the other hand, asn’t quite done building some fun, o fast, 8 cars. They just had to play by the rules a little more… Hence, he 1976 Oldsmobile Cutlass 442. By this time, lds had pretty much just made the 442 a performance / appearance package, ffering a few different V8 engine options, n lieu of their new 250 cid V6 (standard in ‘75), nd of course the iconic 442 badging and lettering on the exterior. This particular design was monumental for Oldsmobile at the time, s it had undergone a complete redesign of the front clip and body lines just the year before, o allow them to use the car for the NASCAR Winston Cup Series. The new aerodynamic, lope-nosed design and split grill give it that signature “4-4-2” look, long with revised lower sheet metal and fewer creases than the ‘73-’75 models. No, his isn’t your dad’s ‘72 442 with the dual disk clutch and the 455 “Rocket”, ut it is a very cool car that will still get you plenty of attention, ith a powerplant that’s sure to please!

The exterior of this Olds cleans up very nicely. It’s nice to see a 40 year old car that’s not full of bondo and replacement panels. The car did undergo a repaint some years ago, nd shows some inconsistencies in the door jambs, nd under the deck lid. The repaint is very close to the factory Buckskin Metallic. There’s a small spot where the buffer cut through the clearcoat on the driver’s side quarter panel. There’s also a few spots of rust close to the driver’s side back window, nd along the bottom of the rear windshield. The only other rust on the car is along the bottom of the passenger side door, s noted in the pictures. The good news is that where some of the major rust headaches start to form (door jambs, ocker panels, tc) are as clean as a whistle! The headlight bezels show their regular patina, ith some light pitting in the chrome coating. All in all the car is a solid 7 out of 10. It’s not a show car, ut if you want a nice quality driver that’s going to turn plenty of heads, his is your ride!

The interior of this car goes right along with the exterior. Not perfect, ut still in damn good shape for being 40 years old! The dash is clean, ree from any cracks and blistering. The original carpet is in great condition, nd goes nicely with the Buckskin vinyl seats. The driver seat has had some patchwork done on it, o repair a tear at one time. The passenger seat has a small wear hole in the back corner of the bottom, s well as along the back bench seat bottom, hich are noted in the pictures. The headliner is like new, ith no signs of sagging or repairs. The gauge bezels and AC / heat vents are showing some patina, hich lets us know that the car really hadn’t had any major work done on the inside, nd that the gauges are factory correct. Everything functions beautifully on the car. The power windows go up and down at a nice pace, nd all of the amenities are in good working order (AC / Heat, adio, tc.). Again, his car scores a 7 out of 10. Not perfect, ut far from being a basketcase.

Mechanically is where this car shines! When you turn the key and hear that 350 “Rocket” motor start up, ou know you’re driving a piece of American history. Equipped with a Holley 4 barrel carb, his was one of the last years for Oldsmobile’s big V8 Rocket motors, s the energy crisis from 73-74 really put a damper on the muscle car era. This one’s a 2 owner survivor! Sure, e had to have a catalytic converter, ut no one said we couldn’t add headers! There’s really no sound in the automotive world like an American V8 revving it’s ponies, nd this 350 power plant puts 170 of those ponies to good use every time you slam your foot to the floor! Don’t be scared, he won’t bite.. The 3 speed automatic shifts as smooth as butter. Driving it over a few speed bumps on our initial test drive brought us much relief, s we didn’t notice any clunks or creaks or moans or groans. Climb on in and take this car down to the races on a Friday night, r pile the kids in and take it across the state to grandma’s house for the weekend. This Oldsmobile is ready for any road trip you want to take her on, nd she’d like to leave today if possible! Call us today to hear more!
