Description:

1963 Mini Classic Mini

Pictures can be deceptive, words spoken are not always what is heard, and descriptions are opinion. Your opinion may not be mine, and I urge potential bidders to evaluate the car in person. This was my dream car, but health issues prevent me from finishing it.
The body is not full of filler, and there is no rust on the floor or body panels. The lower doors and floor have been internally coated with POR15.The installed boot lid is from MK4 Mini. It fits fine, but is not a MK1 item. The original boot lid is included, but will need considerable rust repair.
The component parts to the car are there, and the parts to replace them are mostly needed. Things as window rubber and sliding window channels and felt strips will need to be sourced and purchased ( I believe it would be foolish to consider reusing old seals and rubber bits).
The interior comes with 2 new front and both rear covers. I began covering one front seat and the rear lower squab while I was able. I was quite pleased with the quality and fitment. The crease shown in the picture was caused by hanging them in my home for a year. I am certain the material shape will return in a day or two.The rear seat back foam squab needs replacing.
There is no carpet.
The door cards and headliner should be replaced.
The turn signal stalk is broken, but a replacement is included with the car.
The car wears it's original wheels, and comes with a new set of John Brown Wheels mounted with Yokohama A006 165-70-10 tires. The boot lid is from a later Mini, and the original MK1 lid is included (it is rusted from rodent visits).A new set of rear lights is included with the sale.
The 998 engine is apart, ready for the bores to be honed and reassembled. New rings and bearings are included.
Casting numbers are: Block 12A497, Head 12G295, Crank 12A145, Rods 12G124.
The OE engine plate is missing, and I cannot swear the engine is original to the car.
The complete original 22G68 gearbox is included, as is a mostly assembled spare gearbox and differential. There is no spare differential housing.
I do not recall if the gearboxes are type A or B.
There are two HS2 carburetors, along with the proper intake manifold and linkage, and an exhaust header.
The rest of the exhaust system was discarded.
I cannot recall everything about the car.
The subframe mounts are new, as are the shocks. The radius arms were purchased rebuilt from England, with long wheel studs installed.
I don't remember the condition of the brakes. I may have replaced the rear cylinders and shoes... I just don't remember.
I'd guess the rotors have sat long enough to need turning, and the pads need replacing.
The OE brake and clutch hydraulic lines should all be replaced.
All glass is good and included.
I do not want to spend hours writing a description, as a personal inspection is the only true way to understand what I'm offering. The only way I will reveal the reserve is in person.
I am listing the car only once. If it does not sell, I will pay to have it completed. Please ask any questions as soon as possible, as it may take me 2 days to respond.
