1969 MG MGC ROADSTER

Up for auction is a very original rust free MGC that has undergone a recent sympathetic partial restoration and still retains all its original sheet metal. This MGC was shipped new to California finished in British racing green with a black leather interior and a manual overdrive transmission and has stayed that way ever since. I have the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate to verify this. (see photos)
When I purchased the car it had been sitting in storage for 30 years as the owner had passed away and his widow had just left it sitting in her garage. Due to the heat in California the MG needed a new interior which I replaced. All the carpet has been replaced as have all the interior upholstery panels. while I had the interior removed I installed sound and heat deadening mat in the foot wells and transmission tunnel. The seat frames where sandblasted and powder coated, then new foam and correct leather upholstery was installed. it still retains the correct 1969 headrests.
The paint had faded so I repainted the exterior of the car and in the boot (trunk) in the correct British racing green using a polyurethane paint. The door jams and under the bonnet are original although I did do a little touchup around the brake master cylinder as it had leaked fluid. I did no rust repair as the body was original and rust free, if you watch my video you can see all the original spot welds along the sills. I did just a light cleaning of the underbody and if you view the video you can see a lot of the original red/orange primer showing through, you can also see the body number stamped on the chassis.
Due to the fact that the car had sat so long I replaced the fuel tank, sending unit, rubber lines, fuel pump(modern solid state so no points to burn out) cleaned the carburetors and installed new jets. I also had the radiator refurbished and replaced the thermostat, water pump and all the rubber hoses. The hydraulic systems where all replaced including new master cylinders for the brake and clutch, new rubber lines for the brake and clutch, a new clutch slave cylinder, new front calipers and rotors, new rear cylinders and shoes, new brake servos. The shock absorbers were also replaced.I have had a lot of experience with MGs and I know that adding modern tires can seriously help the handling of the Cs, so I installed new 195/ 65 15 inch tires to the car to remove the understeer these cars where known to have. It really helps with the looks too.
The majority of the brightwork was original and just needed a good polish, the grille surround is re chromed. The glass all appears to be original with every piece showing the Triplex logo as are the Lucas tail lights. I replaced most of the exterior rubber as it had perished over time. Some of the chrome does have light pitting but it does not detract from the car at all. The car has a new Robbins pack away soft topAs I stated earlier I have installed a modern fuel pump and tires, I have also installed a single 12 volt battery and electronic ignition with a modern coil. The head lamps are modern Halogens and I added new seat belts. All of these modifications make a vintage car a lot easier to live with and do not detract from the looks of the car, I do this to every British car I have owned.( I really dislike ignition points) Another modern addition is the stereo, it is a am/fm cd with aux and ipod ports and two new speakers hidden under the dash. I Removed the factory smog equipment and saved it, it will come with the car boxed with the original seat belts and brake boosters (see photos)
This MGC drives well (see video) and all the electrics work, although not a Concours car it is now in a condition that you could show and drive to club events and make no excuses. I have seen many MGC owners asking $30,000. plus for cars in similar condition to my MGC. Mine is priced to sell.
